  "Let's make a promise that we shall not break this family. Father would die a second time if such a thing happened," Angie said warmly.

Alice and Gabriel both smiled, then nodded. Alice excused herself and went to her room.

"This is so hard on her," Angie said sympathetically.

" Yeah. I don't think it's ever easy on anyone. Even if you were kind of prepared for it given a loved one's medical state, death still destabilizes you," Gabriel said.

"You slowly get past it through the support of your close friends and family. That's why we need to stick together," Angie opined.

"I guess so," Gabriel sadly said as he shrugged. 

"What happened?" Angie asked while looking at him seriously. 

Not understanding her question, Gabriel just looked on.

"Sophia wasn't here for the burial. In fact, she hasn't been here at all. Is everything okay between the two of you?" Angie asked, concerned.
