The Queens’ Gambit or Not?

Karen looked at Angie and tried to look for the young girl she had forged a friendship with back in high school.

She wanted to see the friend she had called her ride or die and whom she had made with some of her best friendship memories, but all she thought of was how Angie had deliberately made it her business to hurt and humiliate her.

It hurt her more, having just discovered that it was Angie who had been posting the rumors about her and Evans, all because she had wanted a breakup with Evans.

"I'm sorry, I can't do this," Karen said as she saw flashbacks of how Angie had been so mean.

She attempted to get up from her chair, but Val held her hands.

"Calm down. You can do it," Val said softly, but Karen shook her head. "Not for you, for Frank," Val added in a low voice, and Karen jerked her hand away as though she had been burned by a hot sensation.

Val's method had worked because Karen had an image of Frank before her eyes.
