Paramour

"Found you at last," Gabriel said as he jumped off the bicycle and went to stand next to Angie.

The breeze from the water blew towards him, and he felt cold, so he wrapped his hands around his chest.

Angie glared at him and turned back to look at the water. Standing in silence, Gabriel wondered what was running in Angie's mind.

Did she want to commit suicide by jumping into the water? Did she think committing suicide would end all her pain?

He exhaled deeply, cleared his throat then said, "Angie, I need you to listen to me. I don't want to say I understand what you're feeling now because I honestly don't. I can only imagine. I just know you're feeling bad and hurt,"

"Please, don't say it," Angie said in a barely audible voice. "You shouldn't say anything because you know nothing,"

Gabriel exhaled loudly and moved closer to Angie, then asked, "Will it be okay if I just stand next to you then? Just to let you know that I am here with you?"
