Shane Blackwood is a young man from a normal family - that is until he dies in a tragic accident and is reincarnated into a new world; complete with an overpowered skill that allows him to see the unseen and transfer knowledge, skills and abilities from one person to another. Spurning the idea of becoming a world saving hero, Shane finds himself placed into a position of responsibility over a small caravan of displaced travellers.
Seizing upon the chance to make their own place to call home, Shane and his new friends must establish a powerful city state on a continent in turmoil. But as the city grows, new challenges arise - and Shane's desire to avoid the mistakes of the future bring him into conflict with noble families, competing states and even his own citizens.
At the time of writing this there are only ten chapters, so far it is fairly interesting. Although it doesn’t have any particularly compelling qualities it is generally good. The author doesn’t seem particularly experienced but does have a lot of potential. I enjoy the focus on development of the town and I hope to see it remain a central component instead of a background development. While the characters do seem a little flat there is still some depth I hope to be explored.
This was written with 9 chapters at the time. The pacing is good and a lot of interesting ideas have been brought forth about how to develop a modern town in a not modern world, especially without modern technologies. I think the mc is respectfully helpful and knows basic necessities and planning. I can’t wait to see how this story unfolds and how this town develops.
