Chapter 8

Chapter 8

Mom texted me that she was waiting at the parking lot of the school. We were already dismissed but Norton and I were having a snack at the cafeteria while we talk about what happened this morning.

"You should have left them to kill each other," I said flipping my phone ignoring my mama's text message.

"You could say that but I don't know. I don't care about them but I don't know," he keeps saying while he took a bite of that hotdog roll dipped in muddy ketchup.

"What do you mean you dunno?"

But Norton shrugged his shoulder. "Why were they fighting anyway," he suddenly asked.

I stopped and thought. "Have you been noticing Trixie and Khai?" I asked.

"Sam, you are answering a question to my question, and no. Why is that?"

"Maybe you won't believe me but she is the reason why they fought," I answered in a serious mood.

Norton lifted both his eyebrows and curled his forehead. "Don't joke me, Sam." He does not believe me. He even lets out a tiny laugh. Then I stare at him as he looked at me. "Are you sure?"

"Yes I am," I said. My phone suddenly rang. "Maybe you should just ask your brother what exactly happened," I said flipping my phone for Norton to see that it was my mom calling.

"You are not riding your bike?" he asked.

"Nah, it broke this morning. I left it by the second post on my way here," I said and turned away.

"Okay, see you tomorrow then."

I left Norton and as I was on my way to the parking lot, I was shocked to see Khai talking to mom. Ugh! Why would they be talking to each other? Just something came up in my mind. Of course, they would be talking to each other, their cars are just next to each other. Ugh!

I walked away as I hid inside the school building while I call my mom.

"Hey mom," I greeted.

"Where are you? I have been waiting long," she seemed angry but I know she was just putting an act to it.

"Yeah, about that something came up. I have something to do at the library, might be a long way to go," I explained. "Maybe I can ride a taxi home, just pick up my bike." Then I ended the call. I don't want her to argue with me especially since I know Khai is with her.

So actually I had to go to the library to spend my time reading so I could get time to get away after mom. Then my phone notified me again. It was a text message from mom- be home by six. It won't take long anyway as soon as she goes home right now. I will be on the following.

The librarian greeted me as I walk past the door. "Hello Samantha," she smiled.

I greeted back. She is known to be the most socialistic person in this school. I pulled a book from the shelf. I was reading ahead when I heard the librarian greet someone by the door.

"Haven't seen you since, Mr. Crunos. I hope you'll learn your lesson this morning."

"Sorry to trouble you ma'am." A voice answered.

Mr. Crunos? Shit, it's Khai. I took a deep breath. Closed the book and put my head down to pretend asleep. I thought in this way, at least he would not notice me but for a second thought, why am I hiding away from him anyway? Dude.

I lifted my head again. And as I thought, Khai came to sit beside me for real. Fast, I stood and went to return the book so I could get the hell out of the library fast.

I was on my way out of the gate and luckily mom was already gone from the parking lot. Now I can just go home by myself. "Ugh!" I sighed as my shoes retouch the side of the road.

I decided to just walk home and not take a taxi. The weather is so nice and I need to breathe in the fresh air.

It is a long way to go but I think I can make it before six. I brought out my phone from my pocket and took pictures of the beautifully looking flowers along the roadside when a car beeped at me.

I was startled and made a quick jump from my post. "What the --" have not even said the word when I can't believe up until now, this idiot had been appearing in my sight.

I ignored and get back to walking while his car follows me beeping large sounds at my ear I couldn't bear to listen anymore!

"Shut it!" I shouted angrily.

Our eyes met. He smirked and told me to come in.

"Your feet could get sore from walking," Khai said.

"None of your business!" I shouted.

"Well fine, I'll just ride alone." Then he goes again driving next to me beeping loud.

"You!" I stamped my foot. I closed my eyes in annoyance and glared at him. "What's your problem? I don't want to get in. I want to walk by myself, so can you just go!" My index finger pointed ahead of the road.

"You look cute when you're angry," Khai even said laughing.

"Haha. And you look like shit in there!"

He looks like a beaten melon. There are band-aids all over his face and he even had this bandage over his wrist. Looks pitiful but he is so annoying, I want to add some injuries till he dies.

"This is your fault actually," he suddenly answered.

In shock, I stopped again from walking as he stops his car. "My fault?" My eyes widened as I seek for an explanation. "How come it was my fault?"

"Get in first and I'll explain," he ordered.

"No, explain then I'll get in," I said.

He stopped and gets out of his car. Khai approached near and I thought he was going to do something bad to me but then he was just opening his car door.

"Get in or I'll force carry you," Khai attempted to threaten me.

"Is this a kidnap?"

For God's sake, he pulled me and carried me like a princess.

"Put me down Khai. I'LL GET IN!!" I shouted at the top of my lungs. Then he put me down.

Some of the people around town looked at us. To save myself from embarrassment, I got in the car. This was the worst thing that ever happened to this day.

Angrily, I closed the door aggressively making a large sound and a big shake on the car.

"Jezz! What's wrong with you!" Khai said as he tucked his seatbelt. "Put on your seatbelt or I will do it for you," he said putting too much effort to look seriously mad at me.

Dude no! I'm the one who's mad at you. I rolled my eyes and fixed myself as I tuck my seatbelt.

"Sam, I'm sorry but I was just being kind to drive you home. If only you accepted my offer in the first place, you could've been home by this hour," he still argues.

I took a deep breath to gain strength. "I don't need you to drive me home in the first place," I argued back.

"You don't understand me, Sam."

What? I don't? I let a breath out of my nostrils. "Tell me." I looked at him gripping on the steering wheel. "In what part do I not understand you!" I was still kind of yelling at Khai fighting over this what this is.

He looks at me but then for a second he puts back his eyes on the road.

"Don't yell at me. I just want to be friends with you."

"I don't need friends!"

He suddenly stopped the car.

It was nearly a bump to me. My head could've been hurt. Is this man planning to kill me right now?

"Then maybe you don't need Norton either," Khai's voice suddenly put to calm.

I stopped to think first. I had to process everything in my mind. Then finally, I had gotten a clue.

"Are you being jealous?" I finally asked an assumption that just popped in my brain.

"No!" He denied.

"Of course not. What am I even thinking? You are in love with Trexie, not me." I gave out a disgusting attitude.

He suddenly laughed. "Trexie? What made you think that?" He asked popping out an open palm.

"Don't fool me, you even fought for her this morning," I smiled trying to tease him. Now the atmosphere in this car is finally changing.

"What?" He laughed. "No."

"What? It's okay to keep it a secret. I promise I won't be telling anybody not even Norton," I said feeling excited for both of them. "Not even your little girlfriends," I continued to tease him.

He was looking at me unbelieving what I just found out about him. Guess he did not know I was that future Nancy Drew.

"What are you talking about? What secret? What little girlfriends? Are you losing your mind? Do you need a doctor right now?" Khai thought I was going insane.

"Oh don't exaggerate it. I'm just happy for you and Trexie but you should bear in mind that the girls might hurt her very bad if they will find out," I warned. Kerry and the girls are really into this guy and I am afraid Trexie won't live the moment they'll find it out.

I looked at Khai. He is doing it again. Sliding his arms through his hair and now he is biting his lower lip. Now, he faced me.

I was startled, I haven't noticed I have been staring at him doing his sexy move. He looks hot when he does that.

"Look, Sam, you are understanding the whole thing in the opposite direction," Khai starts the car as it moves slowly.

Now my brain stems are entangled and I did not know what he meant by saying that.

"I am not into Trexie," he wiggled his head. "No."

"Then why did you help her?" I asked confused. He might have lost me on track to believing anything he says.

"Because she needed help."

"Not because you love her?" My intonation rises purposely.

"It's not her Sam, it's you." He glanced at me yet I did not bother to look back.

My eyebrows met as I listen to his explanation, I did not even have time to contradict him. My heart just started to beat drums. Fast. I was feeling uncomfortable and my ears started to warm up.

'Me?' I run in my thought. I am not sure of what this guy is talking about right now.

"I made a fight this morning just to get your attention," he explained.

I looked at the window just to ignore him, unbelieving what he is saying. No that can't be possible.

"Because I'm into you, Samantha."
