TRAGEDY

Life was normal for Anne and Stan. Well, other than the fact that they're together now. Everything felt amazing to them, they helped each other through problems, such as problems with grades or with family. Their relationship was healthy, like a new born baby, with no complications whatsoever. Their souls seemed to be in harmony, as if they were sewn into one beautiful, blooming tree. This was the type of relationship everyone wanted, and eyes of jealous souls stared into the soul of the couple.

One pair of eyes stood out the most. Kate's eyes, fixated on the couple who was laughing and talking. Wondering on why she was feeling this way. Disregarding her relationship, she continued to observe the happy couple from afar.

"What does she have that I don't?" Kate whispered unconsciously.

"Did you say something?" Isaac put his hand on her shoulder.

"Oh, nothing." Kate said, snapping back to reality.

"I have to focus on now, and not the past." Kate thought to herself.

"It's definitely something." Isaac pushed. "What has been bothering you? Ever since we went on our date you've been acting all weird. Are you sick?" Isaac questioned with a soft and mellow voice.

"No, it's nothing. It really is nothing." Kate denied.

"I don't buy it! You wouldn't be acting this way if you aren't being bothered by anything!" Isaac nagged.

"Trust me! There is nothing bothering me, now will you please shut up?" Kate asserted.

"Is it Stan? Have you fallen out of love?" Isaac ignored the request.

"What is wrong with you!?" Kate snapped. She paced out of the school and angrily left.

"What am I doing?" Kate thought to herself.

She sprinted to her room, crying halfway through. When she finally got to her room, she fell onto her bed and bawled her eyes out. This went on for about an hour, and she felt overwhelming guilt because of what she did. Leaving Isaac like that, when she was the one in the wrong. So she hastily picked up her phone, and dialled Isaac's number. With shaking hands, and red and puffy eyes, she clicked the call button.

'BZZ BZZ' the phone rang. Kate held her phone close to her as she waited anxiously for Isaac to answer.

"Hello?" A voice finally answered.

"Hey, its Kate, I'm sorry, for the things I've said. You're right, there is something bothering me. But I'd rather we discussed it in person. Would the park tomorrow at 10 am be good?" Kate said with a shaky voice.

"Yeah, that would be wonderful." Isaac answered.

"Okay, see you tomorrow."

"See ya."

Kate put the phone down, and breathed a sigh of relief. Finally, she could be at ease. Or so she thought...

The next day, Kate showed up at the meeting place, and saw Isaac. She briskly walked towards him and greeted him.

"Hey."

"Hey." They awkwardly greet each other.

"Look," Kate broke the silence. "I'm sorry, I shouldn't have said the things I did, and I hope we can save what we still have right now." Kate uttered.

"It's fine, no need to apologise, it's my fault. I was being too pushy." Isaac replied.

Kate didn't reply with words but with a hug. Isaac returned the hug and they parted after a few seconds, and they decided that while they're there, might as well go on a date. Soon after the hug, they had ice cream, and food, while sitting on the bench nearby. Life was bliss, as people would say, it was as if nothing ever happened. They were perfect for each other, like a flower to a bee, created for each other.

Soon after, the clock read 5:16, and they decided to start heading home.

'RING, RING' Kate's phone blew.

"Hold on a sec." Kate stopped as she searched for her phone, and eventually found it.

"Yello." Kate answered enthusiastically. with Isaac standing by her side.

"Hello? Is this Kate Muerni?

"Yes, that's me, is there something wrong?" Kate's voice turned grim, as she looked at Isaac with a worried look.

"Yes, this is the police, and I'm here to inform you that your parents, Mr. and Mrs. Muerni is in custody with a case of money-laundering, extortion, and insurance fraud, If you would like to, you may visit them at the police station today." The police officer calmly answered.

Silence fell over the phone. Kate once again looked at Isaac with teary eyes, and throbbing lips, until she finally fell on the ground on her knees, before Isaac caught her. They both knelt on the ground, as Kate weeped. Isaac picked her up and put her on a bench to give her a time for herself. When she was done crying, she sat straight up.

"What happened?" Isaac asked

"Mom and Dad... They're in jail." Kate muttered

"What? Why?" Isaac said alarmed.

"For money laundering and some other stuff." Kate sniffled.

"Would you like to do visit them?" Isaac calmly asked.

"Yes." Kate nodded.

Soon, they arrived at the police station. They schedule a meeting with her parents, and sat down at the bench nearby to gather their thoughts, that were recently just messed up. 10 minutes later, three people walked into the meeting room. Two of the people sat in front of Kate and Isaac, while the other one left. Having her head down up until now, Kate lifted her head to look at the people who, to no one's surprise, was her parents.

"Kate, Please forgive us." Her mother apologised.

"Of course I do, but why did you do it?" Kate answered.

"Doesn't matter! Kate, you gotta keep our business alive!" Thorne Meurni barked.

He continued to scream instructions and conspiracies at Kate, all the while he was being dragged out the meeting area.

Kate froze in place, her eyes on the verge of tears, like a cracking dam. Isaac, who had been quiet this whole time, took off his jacket and placed it on Kate's back, comforting her out. Once outside, she bursts into tears. Sitting on the cold cement on the stairs. Isaac continued to comfort her as he offered to take her home.

"Let me take you home." Isaac offered.

"That would be wonderful." Kate sniffled as she looked up at Isaac, with blood-shot eyes, a runny nose, and a quivering lip, she allowed herself to be escorted by Isaac to the bus station.

They soon arrive at Kate's house, if you could call it a house, it was more of a mansion if you ask me.

"I'll be fine from here..." Kate reassured as they reach the enormous, dark gate of her house.

"Are you sure?" Isaac asked.

"Yes, I have cased you too much trouble, and thank you." Kate returned his jacket.

They waved goodbye to each other and Kate planted a kiss on Isaac's cheek. They part ways, and Kate enters her castle-like house, which soon, she may have to sell it off, considering she may not be able to take care of it. She climbs the stairs to her room, plopped herself onto her cloud like bed, and cried herself to sleep.

It was a sunny Monday morning, and the sunlight crept into Kate's gloomy room. The sun shone on Kate's tired face, as she shielded her eyes from the warm light that was being emitted through her window. She quickly sat upright, and got ready for school, after all, it was a school day, and even though a lot has happened, she doesn't want to miss a day. man I wish I was like that.

Anyway, she goes through her regular morning routine, making sure to apply extra foundation to the bottom of her eyes, to cover the evidence of her crying all night. She finally got ready for school, and headed off.

She got to school, and was greeted with a banner which read: "HIGH SCHOOL PROM NEXT WEEK"

"Oh yeah, I forgot about that..." Kate thought to herself. So much had happened this week that she completely forgot about one of her favourite events.

She soon shrugged it off, and continued walking. Once inside, she was greeted by Isaac which asked her repeatedly if she was ok, which would be annoying for some people, but for Kate, it was cute, and it really made her day. Isaac decided to grasp this opportunity and asked.

"Kate, will you be my prom partner?" Isaac asked confidently, but softly.

"What?" Kate chocked. "I-I mean of course! Sorry I was so shocked, so much had happened that I forgot all about prom." She smiled.

And while all this was happening, life for Anne and Stan was going smoothly, and Stan even mustered up all his courage to ask Anne to be his partner for prom. And of course, Anne couldn't refuse. And so, our two main heroines are going to cross paths again.
