"Excuse us," said Alis as she looked around the grove for a spot where they could sit. "It's not that we're completely beholden to our purpose of entertaining men. We've had to do without them for some time now, after all."
Alis chose a spot that was uncovered by the crests of trees above them and sat there. The rain that had been falling for a while now intensified the slightest bit, but not uncomfortably. It was cold, but the alevs seemed not to notice it.
Afena wished they could have gone under some cover, but she was not willing to annoy her hosts. Sitting before Alis, she sensed the alev was not done talking yet.
"But as you can see, our life force seems to be connected to it. It's not that we wish to ignore you, or think less of you at all. It's that we've been craving something for too much time now, and we finally have a chance to satiate our longing." Alis concluded. She looked at Afena directly in the eyes.
