The Surrender Integrity

The noble young woman made it to the top. There didn't seem to be anything to shelter the living space on top of the pyramid. There was a bed, chairs, a fireplace, a mirror, and different robes hanging from a rack. But it all seemed to be exposed to the elements. Since it was night, she could only see all this by the light of the fireplace.

She gave a few steps forward, and everything went dark at once. The girl tried to step back, but bumped against a solid barrier.

There were no sounds in the darkness, and she stood perfectly still, lamenting the fact that she had to breathe. The movement and sound of inhaling and exhaling could give her away to the imagined dweller of darkness that her mind conjured up.

A chair scraped, and she jumped.

A sudden burst of flames appeared where the fireplace was, and she covered her mouth.

The sound of the mirror falling and shattering. She jumped and gave out a little cry.
