Of Witches and Wise Women

The journey took many, many days, but Krenen finally made it back to the settlement by the lake, where his brother, and the rest of his family, resided. The log cottages and the little huts had been taken down, and replaced with houses made of cut stone. They weren't in the same place, either, but had been built in a more practical and orderly arrangement, as Tak had shown them would be better.

When they arrived, everyone came out to greet them, including Afena and Irimena. The two Inarentas were wearing similar clothes, which consisted of long tunics, pants, and shoes.

Afena kissed Krenen to welcome him. Irimena hugged him. Then, the elder wise woman turned to the newcomers, and spoke.

"You are all welcome," she told them. "This is our little settlement, which we hope will grow slowly, but surely. I hope my husband has spoken of what is expected from you?"

"To help, provide, and achieve," the innkeeper said.
