Treni sneaked into Rudsis' dreams that night, knowing that there was no rush to write the letter she'd promised Afena. No. What she wanted right now was to discover whether Rudsis' words had been true or not.
He was dreaming of being a kid, spending time with his sister just outside their house, in a courtyard, playing with beads and dice. Invisibly, Treni stood over them, and observed for a little while.
"I still remember you, sister," reminisced the green goddess. "We used to play just like this, you and me. Throwing beads of steel at a stone, remember? The winner was the one that could get the bead to go deeper into the stone."
Rudsis cast the dice. Treni could see it was a very simple game to teach the children to add and count.
The goddess sat, and marveled at the sight of child Rudsis.
