Wolves Among the Sheep

Afena had told Irimena that the key to getting people to listen to you was to generate interest, which could usually be generated easily by drawing attention in some way. There were times when the simplest thing to do to garner interest was not the most prudent, or scrupulous, or dignified. A woman could easily draw attention to herself, for example, by dressing in such a way that would pull a man's attention, like Afena herself had done when traveling with Rudsis.

Thankfully, in her case, the simple fact that she came from another town, and quite a distant one, apparently, was enough for people to want to listen to Irimena. As the evening began, when the folks of the town were free of their jobs and duties, they came to the inn to listen to the pretty young woman tell what she called ancient stories, and even perform some little songs and poems that supposedly held the secret to drive away ferocious monsters that could not be killed normally.
