Chapter 33 company in cell

When I reached the maid quarters, the rooms were already empty. This brought no comfort to my panic and I ran down the hall to the maid cafeteria. The crowd that is usually present there was now spreading out, mostly leaving the maids who did not need to work that early in the morning. The kitchen maids were long gone.

I almost sighed in relief when I didn't see any of my roommates. Hoping they forgot about me, I took out a tray and served myself the leftovers which mainly included a slice of bread along with a piece of ham that had been out for way too long.

I almost thought I had gotten away with it.

Almost. Because that's when I saw her.

Mallory. Talking to a guard. And her long finger pointed directly at my face.

My heart dropped as I saw the guard turn around and stare at me and my stomach sank as I saw him approaching me. I send a panicked look towards Mallory who only send me a pitying smile back before she left the room.
