"No," I said. "I need to hear from Oliver himself. He needs to tell his side of the story." When he said nothing, I stood.
"It's not his fault," Ruby said as she stormed into the room. "It was my idea to keep everything hidden from you guys, not his. We didn't want our father to know what we were doing. Telling people would have given it all away."
"Oliver, I need a word with you outside." I left the classroom and waited in the hallway.
"I'm sorry, Cass," he said. "I never meant for any of this to happen.
"Yeah, well it did." I grabbed his hand. "We'll talk in our dorm room."
We left the building, ignoring the staring eyes and the whispers I could plainly hear. We entered the dorm and went straight to our room.
"It's now or never, Oliver. I can't keep doing this. I can't just pretend you're not being straight with me." I shrugged. "What would you do if you were in my position?"
"Probably throat punch me."
"Fuck, Oliver. This isn't a joke!"
"I'm sorry."
