Chapter 34: Cassandra

The library. Oliver would tell me if I wanted to learn how to do something that I should go to the library and find a book. He always claimed someday he would finish every last book in the library. He said knowledge equaled power and power equaled knowledge. So that was exactly what I did.

I stopped at the library an hour before my spell casting class and went to the basement where most of the old volumes were stored in temperature-controlled rooms. Aurelius said the Enchanted Academy's library had the vastest collection in the country. He said the library rivaled the Vatican library which had been gone since the Great War. At the bottom of the steps I was stopped by an old man I'd never seen on campus before.

"Can I help you?" he asked. His voice carried much more weight than his stature.
