Chapter 12. Alphas of North America

"Be a good girl as usual" she perked me on the forehead before I left the house and I felt so guilty. I immediately boarded a cab which dropped me at the entrance to the park.

In a panic, my heart started pounding. Just staring at the fucken park gave me goosebumps. I was sceptical about going further, something told my innermost soul to run away and never come back.

Sadly I had no choice, it was the only hint I had so far. The only connection between me and that tragic event. Thus I moved in, straight to the place where everything happened.

The park was crowded as usual but the back part was empty, it even looked abandoned. It was only then that I noticed "Police line do not cross" from the yellow sellotape making the boundaries with a big signboard "Dead End, do not cross" a freezing chill moved down my spine.

Damn! If only I knew that earlier I wouldn't have ventured to that side that evening. Unfortunately, at that very moment, I had no choice. I had to understand what happened to me, the sudden strength and hunger I had developed. So I crossed the boundaries…

As I strolled around, I noticed this reddish colour. I guess it was clotted blood that had coated grasses, trees trunks and rocks. It was splashed everywhere like the attacks were very violent. That gave ne goosebumps all over my body.

I stoop by a hut, it was the only one here and I remembered standing by that hut with him. I mean that thing. I looked closely, but nothing. "Please, God, send me a sign" I cried.

Suddenly, flashbacks crashed my mind, paralysed me and stiffen my eyes for a few seconds, no way to move or blink my eyes. Thus my head began to aches. The pain was unbearable, tears erupted in my eyes and it helplessly flew down my cheeks until paralysis ended. I was able to move but I was suffering.

My hands were holding my face when I fell to the ground in a fetus form rolling in pain. I was going to die, I knew it. My eyes were very wet and painful.

As I sobbed every single tear that dropped caused a different kind of grief. My hands were soaked and sticky and my vision had become very blurred. I quickly checked my hand and it was all red. I screamed in awe, my heart was pounding supper fast.

My head was cracking, I was crying blood. I gripped my handbag tightly as I attempted a raise but the fierce pain pulled me back. I finally managed to stand although I was very unstable.

Unfortunately, I couldn't take the main road, with blood dripping from my eyes. I couldn't go to the hospital either I had, no money, no health assurance and that would have implied the hospital calling for a relative to help.

"I'm dying" I sobbed

"U.S America Alphas's meet takes place once a year except in the case of extreme urgency. So can someone tell me the reason for this sudden meeting, and I hope it will be worth my time?" he coldly said as he barged in.

"Alpha Philip Jones of the Dark moon pack, we were waiting for you" she exclaimed, with a malicious grin on her face.

Dazed by her beauty, he couldn't help but moved to her "I guess you're the famous Laura Halle, the first female Alpha of this millennium, who took over dad's park. I greet you Alpha Laura of the Blue Moon Pack." he said.

Indeed, she was a beautiful lady with long black hair and medium-sized. She didn't look as old as gossip described her. Instead, she looked younger with a smooth face like that of a young lady in her late 30s and that was quite good for a four hundred old wolf.

"I was told by my Beta, that my father trusted you and that our packs had a strong relationship. I hope this solidarity shall prevail" she whispered as he perked her hands. "My wish!!" he whispered and moved away, elegantly.

"Alpha Peter and Alpha Adolf, may I know the reason for this sudden meeting," Phillip asked, in front of them with an air of superiority. Indeed he was an audacious and very elegant man.

"We are as surprised as you are!" they said. "What?" he frowned.

"I called for the meeting" a voice broke through his doubts. They all faced her in awe, "I told Alpha Peter to call on the meeting on my behalf. If I did Philip you won't have shown up, same goes for you Adolf" she was bold and he liked that.

Suddenly, the atmosphere was tense "Interesting," he whispered. Alpha Phillip has always had a weakness for bold ladies.

"So can we know why we are here?" Peter broke through the tension, he was eager to hear what that cute face had to say. "Please, let's take a seat," she said and they all followed her to the table and all sat.

"I called for this meeting because I find it very necessary to introduce myself to you, to get familiar with you all and with the applications of all the roles that governments us," she said.

"So is this why we are here?" Philip scolded.

"Yes, partially. Also, there are a few rules I will like us to revise, with time." she retorted. "You could tell this on the phone. I'm very busy with my political life thus I have no time to waste" he stood up to leave.

She clenched his arm tightly "Please, Philip listen to me till the end" she begged, this immediately halted him and he glared at her. She blinked her eyes persuasively and the fierce man fell for it.

He sat, crossing his hands on the table.

"Thank you" she barely grinned at him. "The main reason why you all are here is that the rate of murder in North America has greatly increased and non of you seems to be bothered about it." she frowned.

"It has always been so for hundred years now, long before you were born. Don't bother you will get used to it" Peter taunted.

She ignored "Babies are disappearing every single day. We have rules and we have to make every werewolf in North America respect them. The populations are worried, the police are already suspecting that the attacks were done by weird creatures. They are getting closer and it's bad for our species" she added.

She went further "I heard some gossip about Mutts creating a resistance alliance against us. They are planning to attack us, one by one and this is very bad. We have to wake up." she reprimanded.

"Mutts are scared of us, they can't be foolish enough to do such a thing. We have proven our strength for centuries now and trust me, they know their stance. More to that, as loners, they can never be strong enough to attack us" Peter said confidently.

"Don't underestimate them, Peter… and prepare yourself for any eventual attacks. My dad use to say prevention is better than cure, always remember this" she opposed.

"I agree," Phillip retorted. "Of course, you will, so far as it's a skirt talking," Adolf slurred, and Peter cracked up a laugher like a fool.

"Morons in action" exclaimed Philips.
