Chapter 13. Lynne's agony

Then he added "What if these murders ain't caused by wolves. For many years we thought we were the only odd creatures living amongst humans but a few centuries ago we discovered the existence of vampires. What if vampires have decided to increase their numbers?"

She looked at him straight into his eyes, thoughtfully "What if there is another species which have shown up" she said spontaneously with Philip. "Exactly my point" he retained his eyes on her.

She shied away from his stare "Whatever the case we have to solve these imbalances to save our species and secret. With all these murders I don't think humans can ever accept us if they happen to find out about us" she exclaimed.

Then she turned to the orders saying "We have to stop whatever creature causing these murders"

"Why on earth would I fight for vampires?. I will follow you in the search but if we find out that werewolves have nothing to do with this. I'm sorry but I won't partake" Said Alpha Peter.

"Don't be naive, if vampires are revealed to the world, what about us?. What if their numbers become greater than ours, you think they will sit quietly and watch us rule over North America?" yelled Phillip.

"What about the innocent lives. So no one is bothered? Wow!. I can't believe this. Anyway, we have to make peace reign. Also, as Alpha Philip said, we can't allow vampires to increase in numbers. We don't know their motivations" she said.

"Hmmm…" king Adolf grumbled. "Any objection king Adolf?. You have been quiet," she asked. Indeed, he had been quietly contemplating her beauty.

"None for now!" he caressed his beards thoughtfully staring at her.

"Good, for now, we do nothing. Each of you should send out troopers to investigate what's going on and all the vampire's niches. We have to be sure if these attacks are caused by mutts or vampires" she decreed and this made her sexier and advertising for the predator around the table.

"Great, I'm glad we quickly concluded. I have to leave, duties are calling me" he moved out.

"Now, I understand why my father was very close to you" she followed him out. He smiled, then he turned to her with a cold air, ruthlessly staring at her.

"Thank you for taking my side earlier" she added. "You don't have to thank me. I only followed the path of rationality" he said boldly.

"Okay, I hope we will meet soon," she said. "Sooner than you expect." he murmured to himself with this said he moved away with a malicious grin on the face.

• • Mark's POV • •

I got up very late this morning. I had just finished my daily routine, Sam was out by the car waiting for me as he usually did everything morning.

I stepped out of the house, Bertha followed me to the compound. "Sir, it's close to 9 am an you haven't touched your Breakfast" she whimpered. "I'm not hungry. And I'm late for work" I moved away.

"Sir," Sam, bowed then opened the car, I quickly moved in. He closed the door and rushed to his side. He started the car as soon as he sat in.

"Did you hear that?" I asked. "NO, sir" he replied carelessly. I heard some tiny cries, I couldn't infer the direction from where it was coming.

"You ain't getting these screams!" I insisted. It was a female and the only woman in was Bertha and she was angrily standing at the entrance of the house watching me leave.

"No, sir, I'm not" he got worried about me, "Are you okay, sir?" he asked. "Of course, I am. Let's leave" I said. "Max, the door" Sam shouted and the door was immediately open and we drove out.

"Sir. Sam, stop the car!" Max the gateman was in a panic. He screamed so loudly that it frightened. It was so irritating that I immediately rushed out of the car.

I ran to Max. Indeed it was Frightening. Omg, the young lady was covered in blood. She was very weak and could barely scream.

"Sam, carry her in. Max, clean this mess" blood was sprinkled all over, it ran from her cheeks to the floor. She was agonising, I couldn't even imagine her pains. Such pain would have instantly killed a human.

While Sam moved in with her, I phoned Dresden. DAMN! He didn't pick up the calls. "Dresden, I need your help" I had to leave several voice messages. I moved to the room.

I didn't know what to do and watching her suffering pained me. The white sheet on the bed had turned red. It was soaked with blood. She was battling to catch a breath and it was pathetic.

"Sir, we have to do something before she oozes out all her blood and die" Sam panicked. "What can we do?" I asked anxiously. "I don't no sir!"he said with fear. I guess he was as confused as I was.

"Bring the first Aid box with every medical serum we have. Let's see what we can do while waiting for Dresden" I said. He hurried out then he came back with all that we had.

"What is this…" I started ready reading the names and use of all the small contains of serum that we had "Pain killer" I read. "I hope this will help," I told.

Sam, was watching keenly, I could even get his heartbeat and it was so annoying. I open the little container and I poured all its content in her mouth and close her mouth with my hand.

Then I moved back "Sam, wipe her eyes and close it with this sellotape. You have to stop the blood" I ordered and he immediately did so.

His hands were covered with blood. He did all he could in vain, blood was still oozing out. "She's going to die" words honesty escaped Sam's mind.

Unexpectedly, she stopped battling and rested in bed, although se was still bleeding.

"Perhaps the serum is manifestating positively" Sam smiled. "Don't speak too fast" I grumbled. And I was right.

In a shortcomings, we heard a very loud "Aaaahhhhh…" sore cry. Her chest tug her towards the ceiling as if her heart wanted to come out of her chest, slightly lifting her above the bed.

Her sufferings had increased and that was all my fault.

"Oh, no, no… She's going to die" Sam was restless, he was searching for another serum.
