• • Lynne and Mark's POV • •
"Also, I need something against those strange pains. I guess you can recommend me something. Mark said you are a doctor" I said confidently.
"I don't think I can recommend you something. I'm still trying to understand what is happening to you." he recklessly replied "And I can't wait to see how all this will end" he grumbled in a low tone but we overheard him.
I didn't know why but he hated me. Perhaps he thought I was going to snatch his boyfriend meanwhile it was never my intention. "I thought you... Humm… So my stay here is all in vain?" I whimpered.
"It's not too late for you to leave. At least this will save us from a lot of troubles, trust me." he pouted.
The young lady glared at me with slight confusion and our eyes coincidentally met. "What do you mean?" she frowned. Dresden could be so annoying at times.
"I…" he said and a quarrel began. "Enough" I scolded and they both remained quiet.
"Dresden, you should focus on what we discussed and find something to attenuate her pains. This is all for now, you can leave to your occupations" I said.
"I will do my best but like I said, I promise you nothing" with this said he left. The whole place became quiet and tense, especially for me.
"I think we should discuss now that he's gone. Please, Mark, be sincere with me…" she sulked with her alluring eyes twinkling with anxiety "Am I going to die?" she asked.
"No!" I retorted without thinking she looked so worried. She seriously glared at me. "Nothing sure but we will do our best to save you." I said. She heavily slumped on a couch found behind her "Please, tell me everything, I'm sure it can't be worse than this" she pouted.
I took a deep breath as I sat next to her "You were bitten by a wolf, a werewolf to be precise." I said. "What, werewolf?. It's a myth, --- they don't exist" she fretted. Her alluring eyes widened, staring blankly at me.
"They do exist, I will make things simply for you to understand" I shifted partially, my eyes turned green, and my fangs were carved. She was caught off guards as the fear caused her to stagger a few steps away barely able to steady herself.
Damn! Those were the most shocking green eyes I had ever seen in my life. He's hands, damn! They were covered with animal furs. His teeth had fangs. I was dreaming, that is what I thought.
"Don't be scared I won't hurt you" I shifted back into my human form. I couldn't even imagine her reaction if I shifted totally. Perhaps she would have burst out through the walls and ran away.
"I'm sorry, I can. You are the thing that attacked me, right?" she panicked. "No, I found you and I helped you. You should trust me" he said but how could I trust an animal.
"Fuck," I shouted. I didn't know what to do. "Trust me, the wolf who did this to you will come after you." he said. "Why?" I asked in awe.
"We have rules. Normally after a bite it's either you transfer into one of us or you die. Women hardly survive this transformation process. Now, you are in the middle of this" I tried to explain as reasonably as I could.
"In the middle of life and death or in the middle of staying human or turning into a monster for life?" she whimpered. "Both" I glared at her sadly.
"I don't want to be a monster" tears erupted from her lovely, innocent eyes and this gave me a stiff freeze down my spine "You ain't!" I let out.
"Really!" she frowned, while wiping of her tears off "Is there a possibility for me to stop this and remain normal?. My life is already hard enough, I don't need to be a wolf. How am I going to deal with all this" she stressed out.
"No, there isn't and your life will never be the same. I know how hard it is but you need to adapt if you which to stay alive especially if you are a 'Lux Mortuorum'" I said.
"And what the hell is that?" I wondered aloud.
"This is when you never mutated into a werewolf, you stay a complete human but you keep all the werewolf abilities." I explained and a soft grin appeared on her face.
"Better, at least I can deal with that. I don't want to be an animal." I puffed with relief. At least it wasn't as bad as I thought if I could keep all the good abilities, the extraordinary power to defend myself from thieves and never turn into an animal, then it was perfect.
I glared at him, but he didn't seem to be happy for me. I expected him to be delighted by my prompt comprehension "Is there something else that I have to know?" I asked.
It was enough for a day and more to that she looked so happy and I didn't want to ruin her joy "No, it's all for now" I said.
It wasn't as if all the clans were going to find out about her that soon and so far no connection between her and the aggressor was made yet. So I judged she was still out of danger.
"Sorry about earlier, I called you an animal, because I thought you were the wolf that attacked me" I clarified. "It's fine, I understand. You should get some rest. You've had a tough day" he stood up to leave.
I clenched his arm, his wrist was smooth and tender. I was standing to behind him.
She was breathing so fast that I could feel her heart bit. I veered, facing her and our stares consistently met. "You have been so kind to me meanwhile you don't even know my name" she said.
Damn, I'm hard!. Finally, she acknowledges my good deeds. My eyes were glued to her lips, like they were gradually drowning me closer to her.
