Asher's POV
"Hold still. You've got a bug on your neck," I said to Devi.
"Eww, eww! Get it off! Asher, get it off!" Devi squealed, flapping her arms around wildly.
"I said 'hold still!'" I snapped, grabbing her shoulder to steady her.
"Eeeyuckk!" Devi whined. I could see how stiff and tense each muscle and bone was in her body.
I sighed and brushed my hand over her neck. I let my thumb linger on the crescent moon mark.
It was smooth as marble, but it wasn't raised the same as Vika's. I ran my thumb over it again.
Huh, the mark seemed almost… Tattooed? It didn't feel like a birthmark.
"Did you get it? Please tell me you got it," Devi groaned.
Blinking, I dropped my hand from her neck and shoulder. No, it wasn't like Vika's at all. It didn't feel hot like hers either.
Was Devi's mark even real?
"Yeah, I got it," I said. I looked at the pad of my thumb, tapping my thumb and forefinger together.
