Chapter 38 : Something Had Changed

Asher's POV

"Vika I…" I trailed off.

Was I really willing to admit I'd saved her? I didn't know how much she remembered and what we shared.

That was too amazing of a memory.

If Vika rejected me again—or worse, resented me—my heart couldn't take it.

"You promised you'd be honest," she reminded me.

I looked away from her. I felt heat rise in my cheeks. Was I seriously blushing?

Ugh, that wasn't exactly manly, was it?

"I did find you and heal you. I heard about the attack, and I…." I admitted.

"You heard? From who?" she asked, her eyes widening.

"My sister, Amina, happened to overhear a conversation between Shian and Devi. Apparently, you really hurt Shian," I told her.

"Oh, yeah, I kicked her ass," Vika said, lifting her chin.

I chuckled. "Looks like our training paid off."

"It really did," she agreed.

"So, yeah, I found you. I was worried, and I didn't want to risk that you were hurt and alone," I muttered.

Vika smiled like a ray of sunshine.
