Asher's POV
"Do you understand all that, Mother?" I asked. She was staring at me like I had five heads. I'd explained everything about dad, but…
"I never wanted to believe he could do that," she said, touching her face and shaking her head.
"Please, help me. Help us." I waved at the rebels behind me, Kira and Vika too.
My mother's eyes darted to where Vika was standing, sharp pinholes of light.
"I can't. You'll kill everyone." She gasped, shaking her head again.
"No, we won't!" I insisted.
I grabbed her hands. "Mom, I promise that we won't hurt anyone. Only Vadon will suffer today, and he deserves it. Please trust me."
"Asher, he is your father!" my mom argued. She yanked her hands away.
I bowed my head. "He's never treated you well, Mother. Let us overthrow him, for the pack, for you, and for Vika. She is the true princess." I pointed to where she was behind me.
"Do you promise that no one else will get hurt?" my mother asked.
