Chapter 59 : Asher, Don't

Asher's POV

My father shifted back to human.

Damn him. I let go of his fragile skin. This was far from over. I raised a paw and rose up on my hind legs.

"Son!" he shouted. He threw his arms over his face.

Were those tears? ‘Yeah, cry me a river. That doesn't change what you've done.’

"Please, Asher, don't kill me," he begged. He crawled on his hands and knees like a beggar toward me.

Well, that ruined my plan. I dropped down onto all fours and shifted back.

"You weren't… You weren't really going to k-kill me, were you?" he asked, crawling closer.

My dad looked at me, tears streaking his face, skin ashen, lips quivering. He actually looked scared.

"Don't take another step!" I snapped.

He kept crawling closer. I jumped on him and pinned him down again.

"Ahh," he wailed, covering his face again.

Oh, please. I rolled my eyes.

"I said, don't take another step!" I hissed right in his face.

He shuddered and turned his head away.
