We had to take a boat back to the Dark Realm. It was a long, slow journey, and it felt like it took twice as long as the last time we traveled by boat.
I paced back and forth along the deck, rubbing my hands on my thighs. There were so many possibilities of what had gone wrong.
The sun set over the bow of the boat, making the sky bleed with oranges, pinks, and deep purples that all ran together. Waves lapped gently against the boat. It was all very serene, but inside, my heart raced and my blood rushed.
“Sasha, you’re going to wear a hole in the deck and the whole ship will go down,” Lucas teased.
He came up behind me and slipped his arms around my waist.
“Very funny.” I rested my head on his shoulder and sighed heavily.
“What are you thinking about?”
“I’ve been thinking about our baby. I am starting to accept that my body and the baby got shifted to that other reality.”
“It is hard to get my head around. But, that is the only thing that makes sense.”
