Chapter 22: Impulses

Ara

Ara went cold. She knew she had no reason to be surprised or care about who Prince Acheron married, but the news hit her like a bucket of cold water to the face. Maybe if he hadn’t kissed her, she wouldn’t have unconsciously hoped he wanted her as much as she wanted him. The more she told herself her attraction to him was just physical, the more she realized that it wasn’t just that. At the same time, though, there was no other reason for her to want him. They had barely spoken in the two intense days they’d known each other. First they had tried to kill each other, then he had abandoned her in a rundown stable, they danced, and after helping her kill the Fae raider who had been trying to kidnap Princess Lila, he kissed her that very same morning.
