Chapter 31: Exploratory Notions of the Heart

They didn’t just run to the lake, they both needed something more than a warm up after everything that happened, so instead they raced the boundary.

Unlike other packs, the Northeastern pack was a relatively small territory and unlike humans, shifters had way more stamina. They were stronger and could go for longer, it took a lot more to tire them out.

Still, a lap around the boundary line was nothing to scoff at. They might’ve cheated a little, running about only 3/4 ths of it until they got to the lake, but a mini marathon would wipe anybody out, even them.

“Ha! And the winner arrives! Are you getting slower?” teased Logan, beating her by just a hare’s breath.

“Savor the win, because next time you’re eating my dust.”

Both of them were red in the face, panting, and sweating from straining their muscles and pushing themselves but it was a good strain, a good tired.
