Chapter 11: Magick

They both sort of just stood there smiling and laughing with each other for a long while until Lakis finally broke the wordless conversation.

“So, what have you been up to?” he asked her, taking a seat on a large boulder. He motioned to her to sit beside him and she began to answer as she climbed up beside him.

“Oh, well, my dad's been super busy. He just discovered the temple of the goddess Isis. It looks like a bunch of rocks and stuff, but it made him excited.”

He grinned but seemed confused. “The temple was lost? Wow, I guess it’s true that folks haven’t prayed there in a while, huh?”

She burst out laughing, assuming what he said was a joke, and he just grinned and chuckled with her. “Yeah,” she answered after her laughing fit ended, “you could say that! Hey, you want to go check it out? I bet my dad would love to show it to you!”

“Oh yeah?” he said, quirking one eyebrow upwards, “I haven’t been there in a while, so I guess I’ll go check it out.”
