Cassandra and the officer drove in the officer’s car to the coast. It did not take them nearly as long as it did before, and when they came to the jetties Casandra could see the land bridge stretching out to the sea like before.
“See!” she pointed to the land bridge.
“See what, miss?” the officer asked, clearly not seeing what she saw.
She got out of the car and dashed to the shore with the officer close behind her. She saw the archway, the causeway, and everything as it was before. But, the officer did not seem to see anything. He looked right at it and had no reaction.
“Ma’am?” he insisted, but Casandra did not say anything yet. She was dumbfounded, it was right there, in plain sight! Magnificent arches, cobblestone walkways, columns and all. All he saw was the ocean, though.
