Chapter 34: What's Next?

Cassandra was grateful for the linen wrap she had gotten back when all of this first started. She really needed it to keep the sun off of her body, and not to mention hide her crown and now her winged arms. She had taken the white feather and attached it to a small rope to hang about her neck. She liked having wings, but she didn’t want everyone asking her about it.

She saw the falcon Nephthys perched on the end of the ship watching the gentle lapping of the Nile tide, slapping the haul of their ferry. She looked over at Lakis who was seated, brooding in the corner of the ship. She scowled in concern. She recalled their conversation the day before as they made their way through the desert to the oasis so they could rest there for the evening before continuing.

“What is next, Lakis?” she asked him as they approached the oasis looming on the horizon.
