Chapter 43: Prayers and Supplications

Mr. Stone led Lakis through the dark streets of Alexandria. He was pretty good at remembering where historical sites like that could be found. But, modern places, forget it. He was very easily lost in the modern bustle of the cities. He could not tell you where the local drugstore was, or the nightclub. But, he could tell you where the first rock Alexander set foot on was located, where it was found, and how much dirt was on top of it when they excavated it. So, this skill came really handy for them right now.

“I am surprised you do not know the location of this shrine, Lakis,” Mr. Stone said as they walked briskly through the streets. “Did you not sometimes worship there?”

“No, sir,” Lakis answered thoughtfully. “I adored the goddess, but I would only worship her in her house. Her house was the mighty temple on the isle. I felt her presence there, so I would not worship her anywhere else.”
