Chapter 49: The Ankh

Casandra did not wait to be dismissed. She ran out of the hall and took off into the skies back down to the realm of Hades. She saw it now. All those myths made sense. If she was Isis, then Lakis must be Osiris! He was her love. He was the one with whom her soul was bound. He was Osiris. That was why Set wanted her to destroy him: she was the only one who could take the life of Osiris or give it back. But, she needed to hurry. She flew down to the chamber where Lakis was being dressed and saw the body had already been taken by Anubis. She flew from the room and down to the river Styx. She was happy to have wings. She thought of how much easier their trip would have been if she had wings all along!

She got to Charon just in time to witness Anubis bearing the body of Lakis to the boatman. Lakis was all wrapped in fine white linen and hung in the arms of Anubis. She dashed over to him and screamed.
