Chapter 29: Sean's Arrival

Josh is gone.

The apartment is dark.

Her smart TV has turned itself off.

It’s the middle of the god d*mned night.

And some idiot is pounding on her door.

“For God’s sake, Josh,” she grumbles, loudly enough that he’s bound to hear her, while pulling herself from the warmth of the blanket cocoon she’d constructed on her couch. She’d been mostly asleep a few seconds ago. She’s glad she had the forethought to put on her hoodie before nesting. “If you forgot something, you could have called me—”

It’s not Josh at the door.

For a moment, she’s convinced she’s finally cracked. She must have, to hallucinate Sean at her door, right now. Smelling like that. Looking at her with something between hunger and frustration.
