Chapter 45: Gonna Be Okay

Sean walks it off.

He walks around her entire complex. Twice. It takes ten minutes just to stop grinding his teeth— and another ten before he manages to ease the tightness in his chest.

(You can get out.)

He’d never heard of an Omega saying that to an Alpha. It’s— she isn’t supposed to be able to say that. Not to him.

Then again, it’s part of what he loves about her. Her strength. Her independence.

Sean rubs his hand over his face as he reaches the elevator. Now that the anger and shock have died down, he realizes that maybe he pushed too much. Beth— she does have to deal with it. All the time. Forever. She doesn’t get a break.

And he left her, in the place where that barbarian put his hands on her, to relive that night over and over without him—

Panic hits him the second the elevator door opens. Thank god for his freakishly long legs, he thinks, praying she hasn’t locked him out. Which he definitely deserves after a stunt like that.
