Chapter 48: Wild

The shift in Sean is wild.

Beth isn’t sure she’s ever actually had an Alpha posturing for her before. He rolls his shoulders and flexes his wrists almost constantly, crowding her whenever he can. She’s not sure he even notices he’s doing it.

He makes sure she’s fed at night, watching her eat almost half her food before he even starts on his own. His voice drops almost an octave, a hint of that Alpha push in his words, no matter what he’s saying. His eyes track her every move, somewhere between hungry and predatory. She doesn’t feel threatened, though.

She feels wanted. She feels right. A sort of belonging that’s been missing, that she hadn’t noticed wasn’t there until it was.

The lack of suppressants royally messes with her mood, though. It’s impossible to level out, between revisiting her trauma in therapy and dealing with new and exciting hormonal fluctuations. That, her barely-reliable work schedule, and Sean’s new Alpha posturing— they just do her in, sometimes.
