Chapter 49: We'd Be Mated

They don’t actually talk about that morning. It just never comes up, between… well, all the other wild, heady sex they have. It was a close call, but somehow, Beth doesn’t mind. If he’d bitten her… she really doesn’t think she would have minded. It wouldn’t have taken fully, anyway, outside of her heat. Though, traditionally, mating heats happened after all the legal marriage stuff. A Honeymoon rite of passage, so to speak.

She was never really a slave to traditions, though.

Sean pulls her tightly against him on the couch one evening, once dinner is over, burying his nose in her hair. “You smell exquisite.”

Beth smiles, reaching up to trace the bumps of his teeth marks around her scent gland, still lingering from the day she came home after lowering her suppressants. “Bet I taste good, too.” Sean groans, and she laughs. “Really, I liked it.” She leans up and presses a kiss to the sharp line of his jaw. His arms tighten around her.
