Chapter 11

Shannon Pov:

We made our way out of the first room, me and Anders up front while having Xan watch our backs. The vegetation slowly faded off as we entered the hallway, around halfway through Xan gave a yelp and I spun to the sound. Behind us just before the entrance of the hallway a few 'deer' with shining eyes were staring at us, their cold red eyes giving the fealing of staring through us.

"Oooookaaaaayy, I'm going to take up the back make sure I don't run into anything." I said

We continued on with me in the back until the deer were out of sight. We regrouped when we hit the next room which seemed to be a forest but just behind the tree cover lies a shear wall. Before we really could get a word in to plan Der decides to climb the nearest tree. Reaching the top he takes a breath to speak but instead he nearly inhales the metal bird that rams into his head. He shortly falls off the tree, but I managed to catch him before he crashed into the ground like a rogue flight academy student.

He has a large red spot on his forehead and I can hear the flapping of more birds above us and the rustle of the underbrush around us as something moves through. Gladly Anders hard head or I'd be much more worried right now. He gives me a dazed look from my arms, looks like he'll be out of it for a good while. I dodge to the right as the birds begin to dive bomb us and we start to book it. We run down the clear path and taking a turn as I notice the walls are bare around the intersection but I can't focus on that for too long as the birds are still following us. The sounds of birds start to fade out after quite a few turns and I can say we are thoroughly lost, but our only choice is to continue on. We continued walking for quite awhile before Der was able to walk on his own again.

As we entered another of countless intersections, I feel an attack coming so I plant my shield and brace myself to block. A few moments later the intersection begins to light up glowing brighter and brighter every moment as the enemy gets closer, I close my eyes and brace myself harder as the light overtakes my vision even penetrating through my eyelids. I feel a vibration as something hits my shield, I feel a hard smack on my leg shortly after but I managed to stay standing thanks to my shield. As the light dimmed I opened my eyes to see no enemy but Xan and Der facing completely different directions from before and rubbing what is most likely to be some new bruises on their legs.

"That's one heck of a way to confuse people in a maze, ow." Xan says as she gets to her feet.

"We should continue on before we get rushed again" Anders says, picking up his gear and I agreed.
