I was rereading Blue a few days ago and realized that I didn't exactly explain the whole backstory and what happened outside of Ren's narration. Also, I've always believed you guys deserved a better explanation.

(Most of the explanation will remain the same, I am only adding onto it.)

AOKI REN (oc) is a writer. She writes her own stories/rewrites and reads them in public places. AOKI HARU is her brother. He happened to find one of her old manuscripts while cleaning out her study and found untitled, which is now Blue.

Blue is the story of KUTSUKI KIYOSHI told by REN, that's why it is told in first person for twenty one chapters. After the story is over, it goes back to third person because she is no longer telling the story.

Their ages: in the beginning (Blue.), REN is 22 years old. when she is narrating the story (one - twenty one), she is 18. a year later (twenty three), she is 23 years old. Note that KIYOSHI is the same age as her throughout the whole story.

KIYOSHI'S BACKSTORY:

The reason why KIYOSHI 'hears voices' was because he has abusive parents—in a emotional and mental way. They force him into an arranged marriage in the story and in chapter twenty one when his parents 'called the cops,' he was taken to an asylum, labeled as 'insane'. He spent three years in there before he was let out and by then, he had cut all ties with his parents. KIYOSHI spent one year looking for REN because he never got to tell her he loved her too. He assumed that maybe she had moved on from him after four years until he came across the book she had published (Blue).

KIYOSHI finding REN in the park was actually a coincidence. One could also call it fate.
