"What a great surprise," said Ishikawa.

I turned around to see him. "Ishikawa. I didn't expect to see you here."

"I told you I was working at Monukami." He looked at Jun and bowed. "It's great seeing you as well."

Jun bowed back, though he didn't say anything.

"Yes, but aren't you a backend programmer?" I asked.

"Was. I got promoted to senior technical engineer a little after telling you because of my experience and… other reasons."

The pause he took while glancing at Araki, Mr. Nishida, Jun, Kyōko, Sachiko, and Tetsuya was ominous, to say the least, yet his smile never went away.

"I should introduce you to everyone," I said.

"Not to be rude, but I'm a little busy around here, and I didn't want to distract you for too long either. I just wanted to say hi."

"Oh, sure. Actually, I wanted to apologize for not contacting you about the offer. I didn't know what to say in the email."
