Filling his stomach.

He opened the door to the grocery store and stepped foot into it. Look at the foods in it, foods that he hadn't seen before. He was from ancient times, so he wasn't familiar with most of the foodstuff in the grocery store. There were lots of snacks in it, and he could also sight packs of drinks. Immediately, he took a pack of chips, opened it, and began crunching...it tasted good.

It was a new taste, these types of chips don't exist in ancient times. Within two minutes, he had emptied the pack of chips, and it didn't even fill quarter of his stomach. Strolling around the grocery store to see what next would catch his eyes, what next he was gonna eat, he took a hamburger, and men, it was so delicious. He muttered to himself,

"Wow! This earth got lots of delicious junk food".

After he was done eating the hamburger, he took a doughnut and began eating. Done eating the doughnut, he took a full pack of sliced bread, opened it, and began munching. Yeah, you might be thinking, can he finish this? Yeah, he was gonna finish it, every single one of them. Within minutes, he was done eating the sliced bread, and seems like it affected his stomach...his stomach was filled to a certain level.

He wasn't done yet, he still wanted to eat more, or let's say, he wanted to drink this time. He strolled to one of the packs of bottled water, opened it, took one, and began gulping immediately. Remember, he was really thirsty, so his aim now was to quench his thirst. Emptying the bottled water, he flung the bottle away 'cause it was of no use anymore, no content in it.

Thinking he was done? No, you wrong, he wasn't done yet, he still wanted to drink something, something sweet. So he strolled to one of the packs of soft drinks, tore the package, took a bottle, opened it, and began gulping. It tasted good, it was a new taste also. By the time he emptied the bottle of drink, he could say that he was satisfied, his stomach was filled up.

But he wouldn't just leave the grocery store like that 'cause he was satisfied, that would be a foolish thing to do. His stomach was filled up now, but who knows when it would start rumbling again. So he was gonna carry some food before leaving this place, all he needed now was a bag where he would put them. He began walking around to see if he'll sight any bag, but he saw nothing.

And he was looking for a certain type of bag, a bag that was easy to carry, a bag that wouldn't hold him back when he would be running from zombies...he was looking for a backpack. Backpacks are easy to carry, they are comfortable, you can easily run with them, but there'll be problem when the load inside the backpack is too much.

But this was a grocery store, not where bags are being sold, so finding a backpack here would be almost impossible. But Hugo was sure of one thing, he wouldn't leave this grocery store without carrying some food. He began sauntering about in the grocery store once again searching for bag. He didn't find a backpack, but he found a certain type of bag, it was very light and mini.

You could carry the bag like a backpack, but it wasn't as comfortable as it. And it was really light, how much stuff would he be able to fit inside this bag? Well, he's got to manage it. He put in two packs of sliced bread into the bag, two hamburgers, two chips, a bottle of soft drink, and two bottled water. Hugo had to force those things into the bag 'cause it was mini.

Glancing at the bag, he felt like it would tear on the way 'cause of the things in it. But he can't reduce the stuff that he put into the bag, he needs them, so he was gonna manage. He carried the bag, it just felt like he was carrying a backpack, but the feeling was different. He glanced around the grocery store, and as he was about to begin sauntering, he heard the system's voice,

[ Your agility and strength as increased, it's back to normal]

"That's 'cause I have eaten something, right? Well, what can I say...thank goodness". Hugo uttered.

And after making that statement, he inquired of the system,

"Are there any lurking zombies?".

[ Yes, but not exactly in front of this grocery store. The possibility that they'll sight you once you come out of this grocery store is high, but if you're very careful, you could walk past without them noticing you]

"OK". Hugo uttered, then he began strolling towards the door of the grocery store.

Reaching the door, he opened it gently and stepped outside. Glancing left, he confirmed what the system told him, he sighted some zombies, but none of them were facing him, they were facing the other side. He began walking slowly to not make any sound, even the slightest sound could attract their attention. Walking some meters away from the zombies, Hugo calmed down a little, but he was still very cautious.

His journey continued, with the help of the system, he was able to cover many kilometers and hide from zombies. He would have gotten to the 'Lotus sage academy' by now if he had taken transport, but who would dare take transport in this kind of situation? Whatever you enter would make sound, be it car or motorbike, and that would attract zombies, and you would be trapped.

So, 'cause of this, many people refused to go to the 'Lotus sage academy' though they heard of it. Many young ones refused to go, and so as the adults, they just stayed in their houses and were surviving in whatever way they can. When they think of how long they would have to trek to get there, they would lose motivation, they don't want to get bitten by zombies. And worst of all, you can't take transport 'cause that would be very disastrous.

That's why the 'Lotus sage academy' is filled with more young ones than the old ones. The adults didn't have the confidence to journey to the academy, but many young ones had the confidence, they took the risk. Some journeyed there 'cause they lost their parents to the zombies, while some left their parents just to get there.

Hugo was among the people that had the confidence. He transmigrated from another world into this world, was informed about the academy by a system, and started journeying that same day. And right now, he was in front of a forest...a wood. The forest wasn't that thick, there wasn't much grass in it, but there were lots of trees in it.

He would have to pass through this place according to what the system told him, and there were lots of zombies here. Once he passes this forest, the meters between him and the academy wouldn't be that far anymore. He entered the forest, picked a long wood from the ground, and continued sauntering. It was dusk, midnight heading to dawn, so everywhere was dark. He mustn't get bitten, he was already getting close to the academy...he can't get bitten now?

He held the wood tightly as he sauntered, his eyes were open, he was very cautious. Walking for some minutes more, he got a notification from the system,

[ Ding! Ding!]

[ There are two zombies in front]

Not long after he got the notification, he sighted the zombies. Luckily for him, he was close to a tree, so he hid behind it. He watched as the zombies walked past him. Sighting them no more, he came out of his hiding and continued sauntering, he was afraid, but he made sure it didn't show in his face. Walking for some minutes again, he got another notification that five zombies were coming in front of him, and he quickly hid behind a tree.

Once again, he watched as the five zombies walked past him. And that's how it kept on going, he'll get notification that a certain amount of zombies were in front of him or were coming in front of him, and he'll hide or find way to pass those that were just standing. The same stuff was about to happen, he had gotten the notification that three zombies were coming in front of him, and he hid behind a tree.

But he wouldn't be fortunate this time. As usual, the zombies were walking past when one decided to side-glance, and it sighted Hugo...fresh blood.
