Taking a nap.

He has his reason, and the reason was, what if zombies were in the buildings? Okay, let's say there wouldn't be zombies in all of the buildings, but what if the building he decides to enter has zombies in it? He'll be trapped, zombies would come in front of him, and they'll come in his back, and you know what? They'll feast on him.

That's the main reason why he thinks resting in one of the apartments of a building was a bad idea. He said to the system,

"I don't think that is a good idea".

[ Why do you say so?]

"Zombies could be in any of the buildings, they'll trap me and feast on me". Hugo said.

[ I'm here to guide you, try entering one of the buildings, and I'll notify you if zombies are lurking in it]

Hugo's eyes had become very heavy, he needed to rest his head somewhere. He was hungry, but he's got to sleep first. He did as the system told him, he strolled to one of the buildings, a three-storey building, entered it, and began mounting the staircase slowly and carefully. He got no notification from the system, so he took it like the third floor was safe.

He reached the third floor, glanced left and right, and he didn't sight any zombies. There were about four apartments on this floor. Standing on the balcony, he put his hands on the barricade and glanced down, but he didn't sight any zombies. But glancing left and right, he sighted some zombies, they weren't close to the building though. He started mounting the staircase that led to the second floor, and he didn't still get any notification from the system.

Reaching the second floor, he glanced left and right also, but he didn't sight any zombies. Without wasting time, he began mounting the staircase that led to the first floor, that's where he wanted to spend the night. Very close to reaching the first floor's corridor, he got a notification from the system,

[ Ding! Ding!]

[ One lurking zombie on the first floor]

"Shit! Why are you just telling me now? You should have told me from the moment I started mounting the first staircase. So, I'll have to go back now?". Hugo voiced out.

[ You don't have to go back, the zombie is blind]

"Blind? seriously?".

[ Yes, host. It's a blind man that got bitten, but that doesn't mean that it isn't attracted to sound. It's not deaf, it's only blind, so if you make any sound that attracts its attention, it would attack you]

"That's no problem, I'll be very careful". Hugo uttered as he finished mounting the staircase and got to the first floor.

The moment he landed on the first floor, he sighted the blind zombie the system spoke of. He glanced at the doors of each apartment, then he decided on the one he was gonna rest in. He strolled to the door, opened it gently, and though he was careful, it still made sound, but it wasn't enough to attract the zombie's attention. He entered the apartment, and damn! look at the interior of the apartment.

Everything was placed in its right position. From the couches, to the table, the television, and so on. Hugo strolled to the TV and touched it, this was the first time he was seeing a TV...they don't have TV in ancient times. And the design of the apartment was very different from the ones in ancient times. Their chairs were different, Hugo have never seen couches like this before.

He strolled around, the apartment was vacant, no one was in it. Most likely, the people or person occupying this apartment would have died or turned into zombies...so unfortunate. Hugo searched around to see if he'll find something to eat, but he found nothing. He checked the refrigerator, but he found nothing. Like seriously? Not even a single foodstuff in this apartment?

Well, he needed to rest his head right now, so he strolled into one of the rooms of the apartment and landed on the bed, it was so comfortable. And within some minutes, he had dozed off.

Hugo opened his eyes and glanced around, and for some seconds, he forgot how he reached this place. But he remembered almost immediately, mounting the stairs, reaching the first floor, seeing the blind zombie, and entering this apartment...yeah, he remembered all.

He sat up on the bed, and he could feel the rumbling of his stomach, he was really hungry. He strolled to the window and opened the curtain, the sky was darkening already, he slept for a long time. He's got to get out of this place and continue his journey. But his stomach was really rumbling, he needed to eat something, how was he gonna trek with this rumbling stomach?

He'll have to manage, he can't stay here? He has to get to the Lotus sage academy. He came out of the room, strolled to the door, opened it, and came outside. He couldn't believe that that blind zombie was still standing on that spot, and his gaze was focused on him. But he couldn't see, so he didn't attack.

Hugo strolled out of the first floor, got to the staircase, dismounted it, got to the second floor, dismounted its staircase, and before he knew it, he was out of the building. He glanced left and right, no zombies, so he called out on the system,

"System, I want to continue my journey, your guidance is needed".

[ Host, continue your journey, my guidance is always available]

"Umm..I mean, which road should I follow?".

[ Go straight]

And that's what Hugo did, he went straight. He's rested his body, but something else was weakening him right now, he was hungry. His stomach was rumbling badly, but he kept on strolling. Getting to a certain boulevard, he began seeing a faint light, and from what he was seeing, seems like fire was burning somewhere.

He increased his walking pace until he arrived at the fire, and what the fire was burning almost made him scream at the top of his voice. A grocery store was being destroyed by this fire, like, what the f**k was happening? Who was the person that set this grocery store on fire? Or did the fire just start on its own?

All the grocery stores he saw while trekking had been damaged, and now, this one was being damaged? He was f**king hungry, and this grocery store was being destroyed by fire? He felt like crying. There were zombies in front of the fire, but none of them dared enter it, at least, they had the sense to know that it was destructive.

Moving slowly, he walked past them without making a single sound, the aim was to keep walking straight. This couldn't be a coincidence, all the grocery stores he saw were damaged, and the current one was being destroyed by fire? This was the doing of someone or people...people with wicked hearts.

He had been sauntering for minutes now, and right now, he was really weak due to his hunger. He couldn't even walk straight anymore, his eyes were turning. Right now, if zombies attack him, they'll definitely feast on him 'cause he's got no strength to run or defend himself. And worst of all, thirst had added to it, he wanted to drink water so badly. But even with all these, he continued sauntering.

Strolling for about two minutes more, he heard the system's voice,

[ Host, your agility and strength have reduced immensely, you need to eat something]

'I know that, but there are no grocery stores around, can't you see?'. Hugo uttered to himself in his thought.

He knelt, it was just like he should give up and faint right on this spot, but seems like he had seen light. Wasn't that a grocery store in front of him? Some meters away from him? He wasn't sure yet, so he's got to go check. He stood up and began sauntering towards the edifice, a certain type of energy had entered him. Getting to the front of the edifice, he confirmed that it was a grocery store, the structured writing at the top of the edifice confirmed it.

He almost screamed out in joy, but he held himself, it's time to devour. The grocery store was a little spacious, and light was illuminating it. Who knows, there could be zombies in it, he doesn't want to get bitten while eating, so he called out on the system and inquired of it,

"System, are there zombies in this store?".

[ No, it's free of zombies]

A smile appeared on Hugo's face, it's time to go munch.
