How the academy came to be.

Captain Wayne somehow expected that this was the question he was gonna ask. Most of the students that he questioned right here in his office asked that same question. The ones that didn't ask, he told them about it, they have the right to know, and so as, Hugo.

He said to Hugo, "I was expecting that this is the question you'll ask, I'm gonna tell you the answer, you're supposed to know. But before I tell you, I'll have to call the students that arrived at this academy two to three days ago. Each of them asked this question you're asking, but I didn't give them the answer 'cause I was really tired at that time,

But now that you've asked the same question, and am about to give you an answer, I'll have to summon them to this office so I can satisfy your curiosity and satisfy theirs also".

"That's no problem". Hugo voiced out.

Captain Wayne stood up from the floor and strolled to the door. Surprisingly, comrade Miya was still standing on the corridor with that AK-47 in her hand...she was just glancing at the events that were taking place on the compound. Captain Wayne needed her help with something, so he called her,

"Comrade Miya".

She glanced at him, then he uttered once again, "Can you please come?".

She began strolling to where he was standing, and reaching where he was, she halted. Then Captain Wayne said,

"I'll need your help with something".

"What is it?". She inquired.

"I want you to help me go call the newest students of the A class apart from the one that arrived today. They are four in number, two boys and two girls, you know them, right?".

"Yes, Captain".

"You may go call them now".

She walked away, then Captain Wayne strolled back into his office and sat on the ground. Then he glanced at Hugo and said,

"They'll be here soon, you'll find the answer to your question".

Hugo only nodded his head, he's got nothing to say. After waiting for some minutes, the four of them entered, while comrade Miya stood outside and said to the captain,

"They are here".

"Thanks". Captain Wayne uttered to her.

Then he focused his attention on the four teenagers and said to them, "You guys should sit on the floor...or do you want to sit on chairs?".

"No, it's okay with us". They uttered in unison.

The four of them sat on the floor, then the captain glanced at them and inquired,

"You guys wanted to know how this academy came about, right?".

They all nodded their heads, then he began explaining,

"I was a soldier, in fact, the captain of my troop. I took my job seriously, guided my troop well, and protected the good citizens of this city. Our work wasn't limited to this city, when there were needs for us to move to other cities for peacemaking, we willingly did it. In fact, we did move to the other continent a lot for peacemaking. We were doing our jobs peacefully and happily even though the system can be so unfair,

The ones in authority, the officials, they disregarded us sometimes. They refused to acknowledge the fact that we were playing a very important role in the peace of this city and other cities. We didn't mind them though, we kept on doing our jobs, we hid our anger. The apocalypse broke out, and it was like a shock to us, we tried our best to protect people, but it got to a point when it became impossible,

At that point, the government officials used us, they gave us certain missions that would benefit only their families. They told us to go protect their sons and daughters that weren't with them and bring them safely to them. We went to lots of danger zones, places where zombies were very many, and 'cause of that, many of our troops died while trying to protect their sons and daughters and their other relatives, they were bitten by zombies,

But we did manage to protect their families without a single one of them getting hurt. After bringing their families to them safely, we began to protect them as a whole, that's the government officials and their families. They were only concerned about themselves and their families, the citizens were none of their business,

We brought them to safe zone, we protected them. But as for our families, we couldn't protect, I lost my only son to those zombies. Many soldiers lost their families also, they couldn't protect them 'cause they were protecting some so-called officials. As if that wasn't enough, we were told to move them to another safe zone. Soldiers follow orders, we did as we were told, before getting them to the other safe zone, we passed danger zone, and as a result of protecting them, many soldiers died again...many,

And something else happened, one of the officials' daughters was bitten by zombies due to some mistakes. We brought the rest to safe zone, and 'cause of the death of one of the officials' daughter, they called us all sorts of names. Names like morons, fools, good for nothing, stupid, and so on. They dared use such words on us after all we've done to protect them? After neglecting our families just to protect them?

I blamed our commander a lot for giving us such orders to protect those bastards that called themselves government officials. He gave us those orders without considering our families, and what did we get in return? Insults".

Captain Wayne paused explaining, Hugo and the other teens could see the anger in his eyes. He breathed in and out and continued speaking,

"Something happened to them all though, both the government officials of this city and our f**king commander".

"What happened to them?". Hugo and the rest inquired in unison.

"Hmm, I don't think you guys should know that now, you'll know later". Captain Wayne said.

"Tell us".

"You'll know later".

He continued explaining, "They couldn't do anything for the citizens, so I and the rest of my remaining comrades decided to do something. We survived to these buildings, they were fenced and they were vacant, so we decided to stay here. We had guns with us already, but we wanted more for protection, so I and some of my comrades took the risk to go out of this place to get more munitions, that's why guns are here and all that,

Getting the munitions and coming back safely, we brought lots of food. After we'd eaten and rested, we decided on something. We decided to make this place a safe zone, it was large enough. We decided that we were gonna train young ones. We decided to create an academy for survivors. So we created awareness, we wrote on papers about this place and how to get here, then we took the risk of going outside again and pasting the papers to walls,

We were surprised when people started coming to this place one by one, mostly young ones. We saw the zeal in their eyes to survive, so we started training them immediately. We created classes for different levels of students, and when the students had become strong and skilled enough to fight those zombies, they started helping us out,

They helped with bringing foods, bringing equipment for creating things, visited our munition stores to bring more weapons, and so on. And the ones that had skills helped out, the blacksmiths, the carpenters, and so on. The blacksmiths created swords, knives, and other metal weapons. The seamstresses created outfits with the materials that were given to them. The carpenters created beds, cupboards, and other wood related stuff,

And the ones with other skills helped out...and that's how this academy came to be. Every single day, some students go out of this academy to get more foodstuff, more equipment for creating stuff, and so on. Some students went and didn't return. Everyday, I say a silent prayer for my comrades that helped in establishing this academy, both males and females. What would I have done without them,

So you guys know now, you know how this academy came to be".

They nodded their heads, then one of them inquired, "So aren't you gonna tell us what happened to those government officials and your commander?".

"Not today".

There was a bit of disappointment on their faces after Captain Wayne made that utterance. Then he said to them once again,

"But there are some things you guys ought to know".

"What is it?". They inquired in unison.

"It is about the zombies, every student in this academy knows about it, they've been informed".

"Then tell us about it".

Captain Wayne glanced at them and uttered, "I won't be the one to tell you guys about it, the old monk will".
