Hugo sat on his bed and began glancing around, he sighted some students with their phones in their hands, they were most likely playing games. He sighted Vera with her phone also, seems like she was playing games too...it was normal thing for them to use games to pass time. He was the odd one at this moment.
After minutes, an announcement was made that it was time for everyone to come to the cafeteria to eat breakfast. Everyone was done bathing, so they began strolling to the cafeteria. Hugo began sauntering to the cafeteria also, and on entering the cafeteria, he found a nice place to sit down.
They were all served their foods, and Hugo wasn't excluded. While eating, he sighted Vera, but he quickly took his gaze off her, he doesn't want their eyes to meet. He also sighted Captain Wayne, he was eating like a gentleman. The adults of this academy were also in the large cafeteria eating. And lastly, he sighted the old monk, Monk Talon.
He sighted him and was about to take his eyes off him when the monk glanced at him, smiled, nodded his head, raised his spoon, and continued eating. What does that mean? Was that a way of greeting in this cafeteria? Well, Hugo just focused on finishing his food.
People began emptying their plates one by one, and they didn't waste time walking out of the cafeteria. Hugo finished eating also, drank water, and departed from the cafeteria. Getting outside, he sighted Ryder, he finished eating about some minutes ago. Ryder strolled to where he was standing and said to him,
"Let's go to our class. There is an activity that is gonna take place there before we begin training".
"What activity?". Hugo inquired.
"Don't ask questions, let's just go". Ryder uttered dragging Hugo by the hand as the both of them began sauntering.
While sauntering, they discussed, and Ryder was the one that triggered a conversation,
"So you got to know the names of the girls yesterday?".
"Yeah, their names are Evelyn and Vera". Hugo responded.
"Oh, you truly got to know their names".
"I'm 18 years old, if it isn't a prob for you, can I know your age?". Hugo asked.
"Why should it be a prob for me, we are age mates, I'm 18 years old too".
"That's cool. And also, if you know the age of, Everett, Vera, and Evelyn, can you tell me? I don't want to go asking them their age, but I want to know. So if you know, can you please tell me?".
"Hmm, OK. Vera is the same age as us, she's 18 years old. While Everett and Evelyn are younger than us by one year, they are both 17 years old".
"Seriously?".
"Yeah".
"Wow! I asked that thinking all of us are age mates. But it's cool though". Hugo uttered.
They strolled until they arrived at the building where the A class was situated, then they began mounting the staircase. Reaching the third floor, they began mounting the staircase that led to the second floor. Reaching the second floor, they began strolling along its corridor until they arrived at the A class.
There were some students already sitting on chairs in the class, very few of them. Hugo and Ryder strolled to different chairs in the compartment and made themselves comfortable. Up until now, Hugo doesn't know the activity that wants to take place in this classroom, Ryder doesn't want to tell him. He was curious, so he grabbed Ryder's attention by whispering his name,
"Ryder, Ryder".
Ryder glanced at him with a type of facial expression that screams, 'Any prob?'. Then Hugo inquired of him with that whispering tone of voice,
"Why don't you just tell me the activity that wants to take place in this classroom?".
"I don't really know either, but I know that it's something that concerns us using our brain". Ryder retorted.
"Using our brain?".
"Yeah".
"Why are there very few students in here, isn't the activity important?". Hugo inquired once again.
"It is, but you know, lots of people are still in the cafeteria, both students and teachers. You finished eating on time 'cause you were served on time. Just be patient, this place would be filled up soon".
And after some minutes, Ryder's words came to pass, class A students started trooping into the compartment little by little and taking their seats, and before Hugo knew it, the classroom was filled up. The likes of, Vera, Everett, and Evelyn had entered the compartment and taken their seats also.
So, what next? That was the question that rang in Hugo's head. The compartment was filled up, what would follow after that? That thought was still in Hugo's mind when a young man walked into the compartment, he was carrying what seemed like a suitcase in his hand. According to what Hugo was seeing, the man was in his 'Thirties...most likely, early 'Thirties.
He was part of the adults in this academy, one of the soldiers that took part in establishing this academy. He came to the front of the classroom and inquired,
"Is everyone here?".
"Yes!". Many of the students retorted in unison.
"Are you sure? No one is missing?". He inquired once again, he just wanted to be sure.
"We are sure".
"OK then, we wanna do some brain testing, this isn't the first time we are doing this. Those that have been here for some time would know what I'm talking about".
After making that statement, the man realized that his words confused lots of students, he could see it in their facial expressions. Hugo was part of the confused ones, yeah, Ryder had already told him that the activity they were gonna engage in concerned using the brain, but he didn't really understand what he meant. And now, this man's words were confusing him the more.
"For those of you that are confused due to the words I used, 'brain testing'. I don't mean that your brains would be tested and examined literally. You gonna answer some questions using a pen and paper. The questions would be on the paper, and you'll write your answers on that same paper. I'll give out pens to each of you, and that goes for the same as papers. The questions have been written on the papers already, all you have to do is write your answers".
The man lifted the suitcase and kept it on a table close to him, then he opened it and brought out a brown envelope from it. The envelope was large enough to contain piles of papers. Without wasting time, he began walking around and distributing the papers to the students, one paper for each student. Hugo sat on his chair wondering what questions were on the papers...were they hard?
Well, he'll find out once he's been given his paper. The man got to where he was sitting and handed him his paper. Hugo was reluctant to glance at the questions, so he closed his eyes. Deciding that it was about time to see the questions, he opened his eyes and glanced at the paper. And his eyes landed on where the questions were written, and this is what he saw there,
'What would you do when you sight a tier 3 zombie?'.
'How would you know that you've seen a tier 3 zombie?'.
'Do you think it's possible to bring down a tier 4 zombie?'.
The moment Hugo finished reading the questions, he glanced around. He noticed that there were some kinds of expressions on the students' faces, they must be wondering, 'What sort of questions are these?'. But the questions weren't that bad? In fact, they were brain testers, the answers you give to the questions would determine your intelligence.
And Hugo planned on answering the questions carefully, he wouldn't just write down any answers. The man had already started giving out pens to the students, and after some seconds, Hugo received his. He glanced at his paper once again and began pondering the first question,
'What would you do when you sight a tier 3 zombie?'.
According to Monk Talon's explanation, tier 3 zombies were really dangerous. First of all, they were strong, secondly, they can heal, the only way to kill them is by cutting off their heads. Thirdly, they are fast and they do bite also. Thinking about all these, Hugo came up with a right answer that would most likely do justice to the question, so he began writing it on the paper,
'When I sight a tier 3 zombie, if I'm skilled enough, I'll take it on. And since the only way to kill them is by cutting off their heads, I'll focus on trying to chop off its head. But if am not skilled enough, I'll run...that's the best thing to do'.
