Darkened hearts.

"That's what they deserve, maybe even more". Hugo uttered.

And that's what he felt, he might actually do more than what he was saying if he catches one of them...they deserve to suffer.

"I have the feeling that you'll do more than what you just told me if you catch any of them". Captain Wayne said.

"Most likely".

There was silence for some seconds, then Captain Wayne spoke again,

"I just hope those students would go and come back safely, if not, it's wasted effort, lives would be wasted for nothing".

"Yeah, that's what everyone wishes for also". Hugo said.

"It's heading to complete evening already, I think we are done with today's training, we'll resume tomorrow. You're heading towards the path of becoming a full skilled soldier, your sword fighting skills are already improving".

"So, once I'm above average in sword fighting, what next are we moving to?". Hugo inquired, he already had an answer in mind while asking that question, he just wanted to hear it from Captain Wayne's mouth.

"We're moving straight to guns, you have to learn how to use guns. Both AK-47, pistol, maybe sniper, and so on".

Yeah, that confirmed what Hugo had in mind. The both of them sat down there discussing other things, they talked about what they'll eat for dinner, they didn't know, they were just guessing. Hugo told Captain Wayne not to stress out himself thinking about those F class students, it could lead to something else.

Not like he should erase them from his mind completely, maybe forget that he sent some young soldiers outside to go get Monk Talon's scroll. But he should try to reduce the amount of time he'll spend thinking about their safety...that's what Hugo meant. It wasn't even possible to forget them just like that? That would be a very heartless thing to do.

People that risked their lives for the sake of everyone in this academy? People that asked for their prayers? Then you'll just forget them like that? Captain Wayne told Hugo that he'll try his best not to stress himself out thinking about them, but it doesn't seem like he'll be able to keep to that.

They were enjoying each other's company, so they spent a lot of time there discussing. A captain enjoying the company of a young teenage boy? Not bad. They left there when it was about time for everyone to eat dinner, but Captain Wayne didn't go straight to the cafeteria, he needed to go drop off the wooden swords before he'll head to the cafeteria.

*******

Everyone in the Lotus sage academy were wishing for the safety of the F class students that went out of this academy to get Monk Talon's scroll. They prayed continuously, they'll benefit a lot if those young soldiers could get back to this academy safely with Monk Talon's scroll.

Hugo was also wishing for the same thing, but right now, he wasn't praying or wishing for anything. A type of anger was building up in him 'cause of what he was remembering. He was sitting on his bed, and that annoyed expression was plastered to his face. He kept on thinking about those f**kers that go around breaking down grocery stores.

He couldn't just get it out of his mind, thinking about it alone was making him angry. They go about breaking down grocery stores? 'cause of the injustice they've experienced? Then they want the innocent to suffer? They were heartless. He just kept on thinking about it. If he catches any of them, he'll do more than what he told Captain Wayne to that person.

He was still sitting on his bed with that annoyed expression plastered to his face when Everett approached him. He had noticed the annoyed expression on Hugo's face, and he couldn't help but wonder why his face was like that. Or did dinner not satisfy him? He sat close to Hugo on his bed and inquired of him,

"Why the hardened face? You've been frowning like this for some time now, any problem?".

Hugo said nothing, he just kept mute, then Everett voiced out once again,

"I understand if you don't want to talk about it".

Hugo finally spoke, his first utterance was in form of a question, he didn't even glance at Everett while uttering it,

"Have you ever faced injustice?".

"Umm..not really, but isn't this apocalypse an injustice to the world?". Everett uttered.

"I'm not talking about that kind of injustice. Have you faced any sort of injustice before the breakout of the apocalypse? Even the slightest one?".

"At school sometimes, getting punished for another person's offense. That's a form of injustice, right?".

"Yeah. So now, 'cause you experienced those injustices, is it then right for you to make others suffer for it? The innocent? They had no hand in what happened to you, they weren't aware". Hugo voiced out, he was saying these things with that annoyed expression still plastered to his face. He hadn't even glanced at Everett once.

"No, that's wrong, they had no hand in what happened to me, so they don't deserve to suffer for it. I wouldn't like it if I suffer from what I know nothing about. You experienced injustice, then on trying to vent out your anger, I became a victim...I'll be really annoyed". Everett said.

Hugo was satisfied with that answer, it was now that he decided to glance at, Everett. After glancing at him, he inquired,

"Have you heard of those people going around breaking down grocery stores?".

"Yeah, before hearing, I saw it with my eyes while journeying to this academy. I saw some damaged grocery stores, and it affected my journey to this academy, wanting to eat something, but you can't. After reaching this academy, I overheard some people talking about it". Everett said.

"Do you know the reason why they go around breaking down grocery stores?".

"Not really, I didn't bother to ask".

"According to what Captain Wayne told me, 'cause they've experienced injustice, 'cause they think the world isn't fair. Before the breakout of the apocalypse, they've always been wishing for something like this to happen, for chaos to take over the world, and now, their wishes have come to pass. They are now making use of this opportunity to do evil".

"Wow! I had no idea about this, I'm just learning about it right now, why didn't I bother to ask? What they are doing is wrong, very wrong. The wicked ones that are alive would suffer from this, but the innocent would also suffer from it. They've experienced injustice, but that gives them no right to do this. It wouldn't be a misuse of words to call them heartless".

"If you were given the chance to punish one of them, what would you do?". Hugo inquired.

"Hmm, well, since they go about breaking down grocery stores, and I'm sure they would have taken enough for themselves before breaking them, then I'll like to make that person feel severe hunger. I'll hold the person hostage, and he'll feel like he's in hell. His feeding would be very limited, maybe a small piece of burger in a day. That's after I've made him feel severe hunger". Everett retorted.

He and Hugo's thinking was the same, but Hugo would love to do more than that. Everett threw the same question at him,

"What of you? If you were given the chance to punish one of them, what would you do?".

Hugo breathed in and out and retorted, "Just like you, I'll make that person suffer, I'll make him feel severe hunger, I'll torture him. But if I find out that someone had died 'cause of what they are doing. Maybe the person has been trying his best not to get bitten by zombies, and he's been managing to take food from the grocery store closest to his boulevard,

But unfortunately, one of those heartless people has broken down the grocery store. He doesn't want to get bitten by zombies and become one of them, so instead of walking around looking for grocery stores where he'll take food from, he chose to stay in his house and die of hunger,

Now, if I find out that something like that has happened, if I end up catching one of them, and he isn't strong enough to defend himself from me, I'll...I'll love to...I'll love to..."

Completing the sentence was hard for Hugo, and it was making Everett confused, why can't he just complete the sentence? Everett had to voice out,

"You'll love to do what? Complete your sentence".

Hugo finally completed his sentence, "I'll love to end the life of that person".

"What!". Everett voiced out audibly.

Hugo glanced at him, and his facial expression screamed, 'I wasn't joking with what I said'.
