Failed attempts.

After glancing at him, he faced front once again. He and Ryder were on the same level now, wait, were they actually on the same level? Ryder was good at firing a pistol now, not excellent, good. At least, his bullets were passing through those red spots, and he was missing some. But Hugo was just starting, he hadn't even started pulling the trigger yet.

So if we check things out, they weren't actually on the same level. But both of them were learning how to make use of guns, so, well. Captain Wayne spoke,

"I've already told you the three basic principles of shooting, aiming, targeting, and firing. If you aren't good at those, then you aren't good at making use of guns".

Hugo nodded his head, that was little knowledge on its own, every knowledge is important. Captain Wayne was still speaking,

"You can see those red spots on the wood".

"Yeah". Hugo uttered.

"The aim now is to be shooting through those red spots, can you achieve that?". Captain Wayne inquired.

"The question is, do I even know how to shoot a gun?". Hugo uttered once again.

"Oh! yeah, that's the first aim".

Hugo had never used a gun before, so he didn't know how to use it. Yeah, he knew that you'll have to pull the trigger for a bullet to come out of the gun, he heard it from, Ryder. But the thing is, what you don't know how to do, you don't know how to do it.

"Shooting a gun isn't hard, it just requires you to pull the trigger. The pistol is in your hand right now, and you aren't even holding it well, look at the way I'm holding mine". Captain Wayne said to, Hugo.

Hugo glanced at Captain Wayne's hand, he saw the way he held the gun, and he mimicked him. Right now, he was holding the pistol exactly how Captain Wayne was holding his, then Captain Wayne said to him,

"Now, that's how to hold a pistol, now look at my finger as it moves to the trigger, follow suit and shoot one of the wood in front".

Hugo did as Captain Wayne was doing, his finger got close to the trigger, and,

'BANG!'

Sound of gunshot echoed around the compound, it was normal thing though, sounds of gunshots echo around this compound almost every day. Hugo smiled, he shot a gun, that feeling, that feeling of accomplishment.

"Now, that's how to do it, that's how to shoot a gun". Captain Wayne said.

"The feeling is great, this is the first time I'm doing something like this". Hugo stated.

Captain Wayne laughed a little, then he voiced out, "Yeah, that's how it's always like, every student I trained to use a gun said the same thing. Now, this is the first step, you've learned to shoot a gun, but this is only the beginning. It isn't only about pulling the trigger and bullets coming out of the gun, you've got to learn how to aim, target, and fire,

I want you to do something for me now, try shooting one of the red spots on the left-hand wood".

"It would be a failed attempt". Hugo said.

"Just try".

Hugo held the gun, focused his eyes on one of the red spots, target, and fired. Umm..he missed, the bullet penetrated the wood, but it was far from penetrating the red spot.

"As I've told you, it would be a failed attempt". Hugo said.

"The failed attempt has to stop as soon as possible, this is still the first stage, you'll still learn how to make use of AK-47s, they aren't the same thing. So the failed attempt has to stop as soon as possible. Hugo, watch and learn, I'll shoot one of the red spots".

Hugo focused his attention on, Captain Wayne. He watched how he held the gun, aimed, his eyes were fixed on one of the red spots on the right-hand wood, his finger was slowly moving to the trigger, and,

'BANG!'

A bullet came out of the gun as it moved straight to the red spot he aimed for and penetrated it. Hugo was just like, wow, that was a nice shot. After shooting, Captain Wayne glanced at Hugo and uttered,

"You see that?".

"Yeah, that was cool".

"Straight penetration into the red spot, being able to shoot like this didn't take me one day of training while I was in the military, so even if you don't learn how to shoot a gun today, you don't have to condemn yourself. Why don't you try shooting one of the red spots again?".

Hugo glanced at the right-hand wood, that's the one he was gonna aim for this time. He held his gun properly, chose the red spot he was gonna shoot, aimed, target, but according to what he was feeling, he knew this was gonna be another failed attempt...learning this wouldn't be that easy.

His finger moved to the trigger slowly, and before he knew it, he had shot, bullet came out of the gun heading straight to the right-hand wood. As usual, the bullet penetrated the wood, but it was far from penetrating the red spot he aimed for. He sighed, another failed attempt, Captain Wayne uttered to him,

"You wouldn't learn it on your first day, it was the same case when you were learning martial arts and sword fighting. You'll just have to keep trying, but the failed attempt has to stop as fast as possible".

Hugo just nodded his head, and the moment he did so, the system's interface appeared in front of him, and this is what he saw while hearing the voice of the system,

[ Failure to accomplish quest: You'll lose 20 Exp, and Captain Wayne would most likely be losing his patience]

Hugo just felt like shouting out in joy at that moment, another quest, accomplishing it would earn him another 20 Exp, he was heading towards leveling up. But then, he thought of the quest, learn how to use a pistol within two days, holy shit! that wasn't much of an easy quest.

It took him more than two days to pass average in martial arts, and it was the same case for sword fighting. Now, to earn Exp, he'll have to learn to use a pistol within two days? And what she meant was, he'll have to learn to aim, target, and fire within two days, can he accomplish it?

He glanced at Captain Wayne, and Captain Wayne was glancing at him, he was wondering why Hugo suddenly spaced out. Yeah, he spaced out 'cause he was thinking about the quest. Captain Wayne inquired of him,

"You thinking of something?".

He can't tell him about the system and the quest he recently got, so he uttered,

"No, ain't thinking about anything".

"OK, now, you've got to watch me again, watch how I aim, target, and fire".

Hugo focused his gaze on Captain Wayne once again, and right now, Captain Wayne had aimed to shoot one of the red spots on the left-hand wood. He pulled the trigger, and bullet came out of the gun and headed straight to the red spot, and penetrated it. But he didn't stop, he wanted to show Hugo that he could shoot more red spots without stopping.

The moment the red spot was penetrated, he aimed at another red spot, pulled the trigger, and bullet came out of the gun and penetrated it. He repeated the same thing three more times, and Hugo was wowed. Well, he was a beginner at gun shooting, while Captain Wayne was an expert, he was an expert at almost everything that concerns fighting and defending oneself.

"You see that?". Captain Wayne inquired of, Hugo.

"Yeah, that was cool".

"Try again, to become an expert in this, you'll have to keep trying".

Now, Hugo would have to try this with the system's quest in mind, he needed to earn that twenty Exp, and to earn it, he'll have to learn to shoot a pistol properly within two days. He kept on asking himself, was this gonna be possible?

He positioned his pistol well in his hand, glanced at the red spot he wanted to fire, aimed, targeted, and fired, but it was a miss. He didn't stop, he kept on shooting and shooting, but none of the bullets penetrated any of the red spots. He kept on shooting and shooting, and Captain Wayne didn't tell him to stop.

BANG! BANG! BANG! BANG!

The shooting was still ongoing, then suddenly, bullets stopped coming out of the gun...the bullets had finished.
