"Oh ... I didn't expect to see you here," Max said.
Jade tried to wipe her lips with the wet tissue she always carried in her jacket pocket. While not completely clean, at least when she and Max were talking, she looked quite pleasing to the eye.
"Ah, yeah... I didn't expect it either. Errr... I just happened to be hunting for fresh blood, so I didn't even expect to be hunting until I was near your location," said Jade.
They both look stiff. After all, they were together. Moreover, what was left of the two of them was quite different. Max still loved her and Jade who was still filled with guilt for him.
"What happened to you, Max?" Jade asked looking at the look on his face.
"Is that so legible to your eyes?"
Jade nodded doubtfully. "Yeah. You look different."
And Jade cursed herself after she said and asked that question. She should have known what had happened. It must have something to do with her.
