Part 3

Taylor's POV

After leaving Kayden's house, I was now walking through the entrance door of this huge company building where he worked at even though my friend was currently at home sleeping in his bed.

My purpose was only one.

To meet Kayden's so-called mate, whom to me was a very selfish and thoughtless alpha, who thought only of himself and didn't even have an ounce of care to the poor omega he just wrecked last night.

I actually had no lead of this Jay's whereabout and decided to just blindly made my visit to their workplace, because based on Kayden's stories, this alpha of his seemed to be such a workaholic.

A young successor who's greedy for success, eager to prove himself to be competent enough to take over such a large business of his family to even think about marking his mate.

So, based on the descriptions on him, I predicted that he might be at work.

"Hello. May I ask for Jay Kleinhaus, please?" standing tall at the front desk, I asked the girl who seemed to be genuinely doing her work when she was looking all ready to serve me since I stepped my foot through the entrance earlier.

"Do you have an appointment, sir?" she smiled polite, and I nodded at her question.

"Not really, but if you could inform him that Taylor Hunt from Hunt Corporation came for a visit, maybe he'll agree to meet me?" at my request, the girl quickly typed in the details to confirm my identity, and she smiled again when it seemed that she had confirmed the identity of this stranger in front of her from the computer.

My company did have some connection with this company, but I have never had to meet with the young Kleinhaus directly.

She proceeded making a call to check on Jay's office, and it seemed that the alpha was currently in some meeting from what I heard through the call.

The audacity he had.

To go to work right after he roughed up my friend badly last night.

"Mr. Kleinhaus is currently occupied, do you mind if we bring you to our waiting longue for a few minutes, Mr. Hunt? We'll get back to you immediately once Mr. Kleinhaus is available," she still informed, even though she might have already knew that I had heard her conversation earlier, and I just flashed her a smile and nodded.

"Sure, I'm in no rush" agreeing easily to the offer since it wasn't going to do me any good for me to start some trouble in someone else's home ground, another employee approached us and I was told that she was going to lead the way to the waiting longue.

Saying thanks to the front desk lady, I was escorted to the lift, and we got up to the highest floor of the building.

Exiting the small compound once we reached the said level, my eyes wandered around the office.

A low scoff left my mouth when I accidentally witnessed an employee trying to throw herself to the man inside the room, probably her direct superior in the department.

It happened everywhere, huh?

There'd always be employees who tried to climb up the hierarchy by seducing their employers.

Why couldn't they just work hard?

Their hard work won't go unnoticed, why won't they know that?

Giving one last glance to the room since I hoped that the boss won't take advantage of the situation, I saw red when I read the name carved on the plate at the door, making me halt my steps to the waiting longue abruptly.

Jay Kleinhaus.

Is he really letting some bitch got close to him when my friend's scent from yesterday might probably still be all over him?

"Any problem, Mr. Hunt?" the employee who was tasked to bring me to the waiting longue asked, and I tilted my head towards the direction of the room.

"Is that Jay Kleinhaus inside the room?" giving a glare to the alpha who didn't even know he was being watched, I gritted my teeth, taking shaky breath in to contain my increasing anger.

"Uh, yes" the employee answered guiltily, knowing that I saw some bad side of the company when this was only my first time visiting here.

"Who's the girl?" I asked more, needing the basic information so that I could make sure that my friend was not cheated on in any way.

"That's the daughter of one of our board of directors," she informed, and I let out the breath I held.

I hoped that it was only what I assumed it would be.

It's cliché.

The father couldn't take over the company, so they pushed their child to seduce the heir, expecting that the heir would fall for their child, making them automatically owned some shares in the company once the kids got married.

"Is my appointment being held back because of the girl?" turning my face back to the employee who looked so guilty, she was only able to apologize since my guess was correct.

"I'm sorry, Mr. Hunt"

"It's not your fault, don't apologize for something you have no control over, miss" I assured the girl, deciding to keep calm and not burst my anger to some innocent employee who just happened to be with me.

"Thank you for understanding, sir" she seemed relieved that I didn't lash out my anger on her, and we were just about to resume our steps to the waiting longue when the door of the young alpha's room was suddenly opened.

The daughter of the board of director left the room, and the employee who escorted me immediately asked for my permission to be excused, to go to the Kleinhaus's room.

And within less than one minute after that, I was sitting in front of the alpha that I only heard about before.

"Jay Kleinhaus,"

"Taylor Hunt," I took the hand he offered for a handshake, giving it a firm grip to show some strength, but the alpha gave back the same strength of grip for a few seconds before letting it go.

"I believe this is our first time meeting?" he invited me to sit down as he himself sat back on his chair, and I didn't refuse the offer.

"Yes, but I'm not here for business," looking around the simple interior of the office for a few seconds after sitting down, I then divert my attention to the man at the opposite side of the desk in front of me.

"I see, then may I ask what's the purpose of your surprise visit today?" the man threw me a small business smile, his gaze was sharp, trying to figure out my visit and I didn't plan on dilly-dallying too.

"I'm here as a friend of Kayden," I said straight, while quietly observing the alpha who was supposed to be my friend's mate.

"Kayden? Do you mean Kayden Miller?" his voice was composed, but I could see his eyes glinted with interest at my words.

Did this mean that he had some interest towards Kayden after all?

"Just call me Taylor. And yes, I'm here because Kayden is my friend and I just care about him a lot," I looked at Jay, and when he said nothing, I took that as a permission for me to continue.

"I know about you being Kayden's mate, that's a basic knowledge, yes?" I asked and he nodded wordlessly, but he was aware that that's not my only question.

"However, I also knew that he has agreed to tend to your rut without being marked, and it has been ongoing for quite a long time," tapping my finger on the arm rest of my seat, my eyes never wandered away from the alpha.

I could sense that he was starting to get annoyed that some stranger was poking his nose in his private matter, but I needed to get to the end of this before I stepped out of the office door today.

I needed to do this for Kayden's sake.
