Chapter 7 : Sushie's Diary (4)

We went back to class for Agriculture science, our Agricultural Science teacher was Mr. Lucas, a middle-aged man in his early Forties, he was very tall and fair in complexion.

Agric science had been one of my favorite subjects in elementary school and I hope it would continue to remain that way.

Good morning, class. " His subtle voice was heard as it echoed through the whole class.

" Good morning, Sir. " We replied.

" Today in Agricultural Science we are going to be looking at Soil. "

" Do any of you have an idea of what soil is? " He asked.

" I do Sir. " A voice from the back of the Class was heard, when we turned to see who it was, Surprisingly it was a guy.

" Okay, speak up. " Mr. Lucas urged.

" Okay, sir, the soil is the unconsolidated weathered material of the earth where plants grow. "

" Brilliant! Class, please give him a round of applause. " Mr. Lucas instructed and the next moment a round of applause was heard.

" You can sit down. "

" Thank you, Sir. "

"As he said earlier, the soil is the unconsolidated weathered material of the earth where plants grow, a soil is also a mixture of the inorganic material of the Soil. "

" We have three types of soil, can anybody name them? "

" Sir, I can try." A girl from the front seat said raising her hands.

" Speak. "

" Okay, Sir, We have three types of soil, namely, Sandy soil, loamy soil and Clay soil. "

" You got it right! A round of applause for her class. " He said and immediately the class echoed with applause.

" You can sit down now. "

" Thank you, sir. " The girl replied as she sat.

" Let's continue with the lesson. "

" Okay, Sir. "

" Like it's been said before, We have three types of soil which are: Loamy, Sandy and clayey soil, The Loamy soil is more suitable for planting as it doesn't hold water tightly, The Clayey Soil is more suitable for molding as it becomes hard when dry and can also form a ribbon, lastly the Sandy soil is more suitable for Building and construction as it gets wet and dries up easily. "

" Do you understand, Class? "

" Yes, Sir. "

" Good, let's continue with the lesson. "

The lesson went on for about forty minutes before it ended.

" I noticed that you were so focused throughout the lesson, was the lesson that interesting? " The dark-skinned girl asked me when the lesson was over.

" Yes, the lesson was indeed interesting and Moreso Agric is also one of my best subjects. " I replied.

" Oh! No wonder. " She said in a realizing tone.

" What about you? " I asked.

" Well, Agricultural Science isn't one of my best subjects as I prefer the English language to it. "

" Okay, but you've to know it so you can pass it, you don't want to end up failing it In the Exam alright? "

" Yes, I know that. " She replied.

" Hmmn, so what are we having next? " I asked lazily.

" French, I guess. "

" Ugh! Why do we have to take the French language? It's not like we are traveling to France alright? "

" It doesn't matter if you are traveling there or not as you just have to have an idea of what the language is all about and who knows, you might end up finding yourself there someday. " She reasoned.

" Whatever! " I replied shrugging.

The French teacher Soon Walked into the class, She was chocolate Skinned, of average height, and slim.

She introduced herself as Mrs. Rivers.

Soon the lesson started, Surprisingly it was a bit interesting, not as boring as I expected it to be, Mrs. Rivers Spoke French throughout the lesson which made me feel like, ' Wow! ' but she sometimes mixed it up with English to make us understand.

So far, she has made me quite interested in the Language, Perhaps I can still decide to Learn the Language Someday and become a Speaker of French, ' How nice would that be? ' I asked myself.

" The greetings in French are: Bonjour ( Hello ), Comment allee-Vous ( How are you? ), Enchant(e) ( nice to meet you ), Bonsoir ( good evening/hello ), tu vas bien? ( Have you been Well? ) And so on, memorizing all these greetings will help you to not only pass the French exam but also to be able to greet your friends with the language. " She said.

" Okay, Ma. "

" Alright, let's continue.... "

The lesson Went on four an hour before the closing Bell went off and The teacher Left our class.

" Au revoir, Professeur. " We greeted as she was about to leave our class.

" Au revoir, ètudiant. " She replied.

" So did you enjoy the French class? " The dark Skinned girl asked me as we were descending the stairs on our way home.

" Yes, I did, it was fun. " I replied.

" Told, Ya! " She said Grinning.

" Umm. " I said simply.
