Eleven

Chapter 11

It's time for closing so I arranged the desk and packed my things and the things I will be needing at home for my unfinished design. Done with packaging I bid my colleagues goodbye before walking out to get a ride home. Still waiting for a taxi when black car parked in front of me which I had to move back in case the person wanted to open the door. I take two step away from the car which the car door was open and Kelvin came out of the car

"Hello Princess" is the first thing the guy said as soon as he got out of the car. I was surprised to see the person standing in front of me because he was the last person I expected to see. He keeps staring at me waiting for me to say something which I on the other hand don't even know what to say but I tried to speak up

"H..Hi" I stammered shyly of him and was short of words about our last encounter. I never in my wildest dreams think of ever seeing him again because even the complimentary card he gave me I threw it away having nothing to do with it because to me it's just a fling and a one night stand which is common

"Well should I say this a coincidence or what?" He said which I didn't say anything to him just keeps staring at him since i don't have anything to do with him anymore especially me being a surrogate which I can't have any affair now "guess you're not in the mood to talk me or see me, which I don't think it's possible. But if you give me your number I will let you go for now since you never called me after giving you my card. So please can I get your number?" He pleaded

"I'm so sorry, it's not what you think. Have been quite busy this days that's why I haven't gotten the chance to call you but I promised to do that soon" I lied because I don't want to give him my number or get involved in any kind of relationship now

"Okay then, but I think it's better I get yours incase you don't have the chance to call which i on the other hand is always free" I didn't want it to be this way because I don't feel like giving him my number which I was looking for a way to escape and lucky enough Sam appeared from nowhere with his car at the right time. Sam parked in front of us before coming out to meet us where we were standing

"Hey Kelvin" Sam said giving him a hand shake

"Hi Sam, nice meeting you again" Kelvin replied

"Same here" Sam said before facing me" babe I don't think you want to be late for your appointment so let get going" Sam said, which I prayed for him in my heart blessing him zillions times

"I'm ready, let's go" I said about to leave when Kelvin hold me by my arm

"Don't you think you're forgetting something" Kelvin asked which makes Sam to look at us both before finally looking at me

"Nop! I don't think so" I lied

"Guess you have forgotten but let me remind you. We were talking about you giving me your phone number before Sam arrived. So let's have it before you leave please" Kelvin pleaded .

"Okay" I said defeatedly before giving him the number which he left after thanking me. We entered Sam car and he drove off, when we were a little bit far from my working place he stopped the car

"Babe I thought it's just a one night stand?" Sam asked

"Yes" I replied shortly

"Then why is he asking for your number again?" Sam asked again which I groaned

"I don't really know. I saw him now when I was at the roadside looking for a ride, which he parked and told me he has been waiting for my call but since I didn't call him, he thinks it's better he gets mine so he could call me"

"Humm, don't you think he don't want it to be just one night stand as you call it"

"He has too. I don't want any commitments now, till after all this is over" I said point at my belly "Moreover am not interested in him" I said

"Let's see how it goes first. Don't push him away, we knows what might happen" Sam said kicking the car and start driving

"Have you heard of Sam?" I said as he parked in front of my apartment."Thank you for the ride." I said to him, which he just waved at me before leaving. I walked into my apartment to rest for a while before going for my night shift.

It's the knock at the door that wakes me up, "who could that be?" I said to myself standing up from my bed to the door. I opened the door and saw Mrs Charlie standing in front of my apartment with smile on her face

"Welcome ma, please come inside" I said welcoming her into my apartment "Please have a seat"I said showing her where to seat since all the chairs are occupied with my clothes

"Thank you," Mrs Charlie said. I walked into the kitchen to get her what to munch on or to drink. I didn't even know what to entertain her with, so I decided on just water. I placed everything neatly on the tray before walking out of the kitchen to meet her

"Thank you" she said immediately I kept the tray of water on the table in front of her "let's get straight to the point, I know you're the straight forward person but I don't know how you will take, but I will like you to move in with us" before she could continue I interrupted her

"That was not included in the contract. So why this now?" I asked

"I know it's not included in the contract but I just want to see you close by and to help you out with some things. I haven't been pregnant before but I know it's going to be stressful for you at some point which you will need help or someone to be there with you that will assist you" she said trying to make me understand " I think it's better that way at least you know someone is closed by, to check on you time to time. Or what did you think?" Mrs Charlie asked which I couldn't say anything because what's she's saying makes sense but how on Earth can I go and leave with them when I don't know much about them and don't want to be an intruder which I don't think it's a good idea and ever since the incident that happened between her and her husband that day I don't think i will be comfortable staying with them which I can't tell her that directly because it's will look rude and she might get offended

"I don't think it's a bad idea, but I would like you to give me some time to think it over. I can't just make the decision right away, I need some time which I hope you understand where i'm coming from"

"That's not a problem. Will give you some days to think over it, but I hope you take the right decision that's best suited for you and your condition"

"Don't worry, I will. Thank you"

"That's good. I will take my leave now, call me whenever you have decided, but I hope that should be soon, because I have a business trip next week. Do take care of yourself, I will be expecting your call" she said standing up which I escorted her out before coming back to my room

I locked the door before putting my back on the door thinking about what Mrs Charlie just said, how can she ask me to come and leave with them when she doesn't know me that much and she hardly stays at home. What if her husband picks an interest in me and when she's talking about taking care of me how will she do it when she hardly stays at home or does she mean the maids will be taking care of me. I walked to the toilet to bathe forgetting about what she said and dressed up for work since I don't want to be late.

I arrived at the bar earlier than other days and walked straight to the counter to rest for a while since I don't have enough strength or energy to talk to anyone right now. I was busy thinking, lost in my own thought that I didn't see anyone coming in until the person bang on the counter which brings me back to my senses

"I'm sorry. Welcome. How may I help you?"

"Just get a drink for four people at table two"he said walking back to his seat while I quickly arranged the drinks on the tableI before taking it to them. About to leave when I saw someone at the extreme end of the bar drinking all alone, but couldn't see his face clearly but from the way he's standing someone might think he's drunk already. I was about walk back to the counter when I heard my name being called, I turn and see it's the boss calling me

"Lilly, are you tired or what?"he asked which I didn't reply so he continued "if you're tired you can kindly drop the work and leave. Don't you see customers everywhere waiting for their orders and here you are looking at God knows what, you better attend to the customers"

"Sorry sir" I said so he will stop talking because it's giving me headache

"Sorry for yourself. Better stop messing around and attend to the customers' ' he said storming off to his office.I just stood there staring at his retreating back. I walked back and began attending to the customers waiting for their orders. Seriously exhausted which I couldn't rest because customers where at every angle of the bar waiting and ordering more drink which got me confused because last I checked there's no occasion and it's not weekend

It's time for break already I quickly removed the apron from my neck to get some fresh air at the back yard which walk to the back yard to rest for a while. Boredom is a disease which I can't go away with and I can't drink because ever since I become a surrogate I'm prohibited from taking alcohol for the time being. I sighed using my hand to clean my face thinking about my life how things were and how things are becoming now. I Spend some time at the back yard before going back inside to continue with my work. I'm really getting tired of this work already because ever since the implementation I don't understand my body any longer again which I don't know if it's because of it or not. I think I'm going to ask for a month's leave to rest for a while. I will gain my strength and energy back if not I will be fired. That's what the boss wants and I can't let him get what he wants unless I quiet by myself because I promise myself not to get fired. I picked my bag up getting ready to leave since it's almost time for closing. I cleaned the places I can because I can't clean everything today since I don't have much energy in me to do everything. I decided to talk to the boss tomorrow regarding the issue of my leave when I come to work tomorrow at least to have some time alone my only problem now is that I don't know maybe he will let me go since Dora is on leave too and two people can't take a leave at the same unless an unforeseen incident occur then they can both go on leave
