Chapter 34: On the Other Side

By the time Janesca and her mount had swam through the water, Janesca could not stop her irritation from showing. With water sloshing in awkward places inside her armor, she was more than a bit uncomfortable when she landed on the ground, her boots sounding far heavier than normal. With a few sacks still histed well above her head, which were largely filled with clothes, scrolls, and rations, she looked completely stiff as she set the dry goods down on the ground. She took care to set them a little distance away from her dripping form.

Chestnut immediately tried to shake herself off, looking entirely unconcerned that the sack she carried was perpetually sagging with excess moisture. Cloth bags, their weapons, and even their sleeping bags were completely soaked through. No doubt about that. But it wasn’t like the horse cared one way or another, her form giving a slight shiver as the creature immediately set herself to eating the grass.
