Chapter 35: Into the Woods

Traveling in a single file line, Alexander couldn’t help but feel claustrophobic when he began following Janesca. Travel was all done in a single file fashion, and Alexander found himself wedged between Chestnut and Raymond while Janesca served as the proverbial spearhead.

Between Chestnut’s rear and Raymond’s front, Alexander found himself recoiling every time the surrounding vines began to move in his general direction. Like slithering snakes, he saw the coarse vines move towards them, looking like they wanted to poke and prod at the new intrusion. The fibers within them occasionally squelched with each movement, and the ones that were a bit dryer even gave out a few cracks when they overextended themselves.
