Chapter 28: Moment of Serentity

During Damon’s watch that night, although he was supposed to focus on the surrounding trees, he couldn’t help but keep his eyes on Adelaide as she slept on the ground beside him. Her stomach rose and fell as she lightly snored, and her delicate, yet battered hands were tucked underneath her head for additional support.

The guilt inside of him mounted with each passing minute. With all that had happened in the past few days, and the intimacy he and Adelaide had recently experienced, he thought he had left all of this remorse behind. He wasn’t the same person he had been when he left Moonlight pack—riddled with anger and resentment for something he knew so little about.
