Upon impact, Kal fell to the ground, with Damon standing over him in all of his wolfen glory. With the loss of concentration came the loss of power, and Kal’s magic instantly broke, enabling the others to break free of the Ascender’s hold and causing an immediate war. 


Bodies flung from one side of the mountain top to the other while members of the Moonlight pack picked up the Ascenders that were holding them down, and tossed them aside, either into the brush, or off the side of the cliff—whichever came first.


Damon kept his stance over Kal, bending down and snarling in his face.


“Demanding and surprising. I like it,” Kal began. “A leader should always know when to give in and when to attack.”
